HJ | 300 comments Thank you so much for this link! I had an image of Mary Stewart as somehow more austere. She has a lovely twinkle in her eye, and a great sense of fun. Thinking back to her heroines, I should have guessed that.

(Incidentally, the interview dates from 1992.)

Jemidar What a great interview. And such a lovely lady :-).

Misfit | 587 comments I was wondering how old the interview was. I hear she's still around, but getting on in years...

message 5: by Jemidar (new)

Jemidar She was born in 1916, so that makes her 95 now. Believe it or not she was 76 in that interview!

Misfit | 587 comments I thought one of you had mentioned her age recently. That's quite a grand old age to reach. Hope she's still doing well, I'd like to be as spry as her when I hit my 70's.

Jemidar Yes, I thought she looked really good for someone in her seventies. I'm not quite sure I look that good most days!

Misfit | 587 comments Same here, which is why kitty struts her stuff in the avatar and not me :)

Same reason my "baby" girl (now almost 17) graces my avatar - lol!

CLM | 11 comments I heard that she is virtually blind now and that it prevents her from reading or writing. Very sad.

That is sad. She's given several generations of readers some lovely reading moments.

Susan Does everyone here know about her website here:

http://marystewartnovels.com/

I don't think it has been updated recently, but it is still a nice reference point.

And, there were some recent releases in the UK with these covers:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madam-Will-St...

Some may not like them, but I think they are great. Fashions contemporary with the setting of the book!

Misfit | 587 comments I really like that novels blog, although it hasn't been updated much lately. The covers they've collected is fabulous.

PS, welcome to the group.

You found us, Susan!

I like that website - I refer to the location map to see where her books took place. Also like the various covers page(s).
