Erica Poole | 33 comments I read this fluff sci fi mystery novel in High School. I swear it was just called NESS but I cannot find it anywhere. It is about a woman who is involved in finding the Loch Ness monster, but it is found while an Oil company or something like that is drilling in the lake, so they don't want it found, because it means that they will not be able to get their oil. So the group plots to catch it and kill it before anyone else realizes it is a real creature. The guy is either involved with the company or a law enforcement agency and ends up helping the woman save the creature. Anyone on earth other than me read this book?

Erica Poole | 33 comments Hmmm, could be, I will have to hit the library and see, sounds similar, but I don't remember it as being a family venture...thanks though, I will investigate that option!

Yvette | 19 comments Nessie, maybe? I don't know if there is a book called Nessie, but I saw a documentary once about a woman who was in search of the loch ness monster and the name she gave the monster is Nessie. Look on Amazon.com and see if you get a hit. Good luck!

Yvette | 19 comments Okay, I did the search for you and there are tons of books on the Loch Ness Monster and one is called Nessie. Here is the link:

Erica Poole | 33 comments Still no luck, but thanks anyway! I knew I should have just stolen the book from the library when I was in high school! Ha, just kidding!

Kinsey Swartz (tvindy) | 131 comments Monster A Tale of Loch Ness by Jeffrey Konvitz Monster A Tale of Loch Ness may be it. Here's the description:

A monster stirs at the bottom of Loch Ness.
For centureies it has lived in peace,
rising to the surface,
from time to time,
to become a legend in the hills of Scotland.

Now something has arrived to disturb it's tranquility -
the violent, greedy thrust of men in search of oil.

Now the monster must strike to survive,
in an explosion of unimaginable fury
that will rock the world.

A tale of the beast

The Amazon reviews seem to match up with most of what you said. The book has been published with two titles, but neither is "Ness".

Brandi Ferguson | 1 comments I bet you are thinking of The Loch by Steve Alten

Abigail (handmaiden) | 391 comments Seems fairly unsolved, so maybe back to the Unsolved folder, or just on to Abandoned since the op hasn't responded in nearly three years?
