Sue (suekerr) | 24 comments I recall this was part of a series about a young girl, set in the 1950's. The only particular storyline I recall is her departure for a summer abroad. One of her boyfriends gave her a locket with his picture in it. The other boyfriend gave her a locket with her dog's picture in it. I think the latter boyfriend was the one she ended up dating.

Ring any bells?

Penny | 22 comments Rosamond du Jardin wrote a book called, "Junior Year Abroad." I've never read it so I don't know if that's your book, but it might be worth checking out.

Good luck.

Wendy | 52 comments It's definitely not that. It sounds vaguely familiar; i'll keep thinking.

Sue (suekerr) | 24 comments Thanks for trying. I'm fairly sure it was part of a series. It could have been set in the 1960's. Most of this book was set before her sojourn abroad. There was a book about her return and I think she ends up with the boy next door

Penny | 22 comments This is another long shot, but I just started reading a book called "Francie" by Emily Hahn. The protagonist is about to go to England with her father, and leave two (at least) boyfriends behind. I haven't run into anything about lockets yet, but the opening chapter made me remember your post, so I thought I'd mention it. Here's an excerpt from the jacket:

"Meet Francie Nelson, delightful, contradictory and spoiled, and not very eager to exchange her gay life at home for goodness-knows-what in post-war England...and when she was just about to become Beauty Queen, too!"

Good luck with your treasure hunt, in any case.

Jessica | 28 comments Another longshot, because I don't remember it having the bit about the lockets, but the Betsy-Tacy books later had Betsy take a European trip, in Betsy and the Great World, where she is romanced by a suave Italian. I think she then comes back and gets married to her hometown boyfriend.

Emily | 55 comments Betsy-Tacy is set looong before the '50s, more like turn of the century.

Jessica | 28 comments Um, that's why I said it might be a longshot. Also, the original question was shaky on the time period of the setting.
