I don't know about ya'll, but I feel hopeful. I got my Obama signs in the mail and posted them on my balconies. Yay! I may be volunteering for his campaign this next week.

I was gratified to see McCain trying to compensate for some of the smears his campaign has made against Obama. Not that it will matter. People believe what they want to believe, regardless of facts.

Cyril I finished my absentee ballot and just have to mail it in. I read about all 13 presidential candidates (didn't know there was a Boston Tea Party, that Alan Keyes and Ralph Nader are running again, and that Cynthia McKinney is running). I selected someone for Tax Collector, Public Defender, and local Conservation group even though I don't really understand why these are elected positions. I read through 6 proposed constitutional amendments that have little to do with me. I voted for a city council member although neither candidate has submitted any statement on plans or philosophy that I can find.

For the first time, I will vote for a Democrat for President. I hold no illusions that Barack Obama will be a savior. I like John McCain, but the Republican Party needs to be spanked for taking a country that was in decent shape 8 years ago and turning it into a mess.

Not Bill | 1062 comments Cyril - that's a good post. Sorry you didn't know about McKinney - lol - Green Party! LOL. That's rich.

There's a large part of me and many conservatives that truly want to see the GOP get spanked. I remember one repub congress butthead declaring the Reagan era dead. ha! Like he won't be lookin' for work after this election. Idiot. In the long run, that may work out for the best. However, until then - there's this: "it's not over 'til it's over". I love this clip. I also think it's sooooooo appropo given current situation. I'd like to title this "McCain Campaign Regroups".
I think this just - migh - work.

and for added fun - imagine Boone as McCain and Blutarsky as Palin. You'll soon realise the Dems have no chance. LOL!

RandomAnthony Did you hear the guy who started the "Obama is a Muslim" rumor was identified? I'm still shocked they could narrow it down to one person...not sure I entirely believe it.

Cyril This is a quote from one of Charissa's articles; can someone explain what this means (particularly the "bookend" and "run-over dog" parts)?

“Well, that’s just a bookend for me,” said Tom Slade, a former chairman of the Florida Republican Party, whom Mr. Martin sued for refusing to support him. Mr. Slade said Mr. Martin was driven like “a run-over dog, but he’s fearless.”

Not Bill | 1062 comments He's giving Pat Buchanon a run for his money - not to mentioin also giving wingnuts a bad name.

I don't know if started with him though - that rumor has been out there quite a while.

I just checked the CNN electoral map, and it has ARIZONA in the "Unsure" column. Arizona, the state McCain is the Senator of, and it's not a sure thing for him.
McCain 46%, Obama 44%, which is within the margin of error of the polling...

blah blah blah.

It is going to be a landslide I tell you a landslide! I would like to point out that I have sucessfully picked the POTUS winner since before I could vote. I have a sixth sense about these things.

Palin all the way... eh, I mean McCain.

It's weird, isn't it - all this adulation for Obama when he's been so low key in the debates.

But my attention has been riveted on the implosion of the McCain campaign. The economy tanks, Troopergate just won't go away, and then there's the shopping spree for Palin. And now, Palin has gone rogue! It's a neverending series of disasters!
What will go wrong for him next???

John (jilsao) The fonz and Ridhie clip was histerical! Loved it!

Obama!!!!!!!

message 15: by John (new)

John (jilsao) I live in a very rural, very red area. It is a sign of the times perhaps, not only that Obama signs are in as many yards as McCain signs, but that BOTH are out numbered by realtor signs... Last count I took down my road (driveway every half mile or so...) It was Obama 4 signs, McCain 6 signs, United Country Realty 11 signs. I hope these folks are all moving voluntarilly, but I suspect not. I guess it just illustrates how screwed we are to begin with. I hope Obama wins, and I believe he will, but don't you kinda feel sorry for the next president when he enters office and has to spend the better part of a term just cleaning up after Bush and all the other screw ups? Long road ahead... Good luck.

signs of the times.

message 17: by John (new)

John (jilsao) Mind you, these aren't forclosed "homes" either. I live on 166 acres, and am by no means on a lot of land for this area. Some of those for sale signs are on parcels that some of your home towns would fit in. One in particular is 2656 acres (that would be 4 square miles).

Any one need to buy a LOT of freekin hay? ;-)
