Does anybody know a short story or novel about a group of men walking across a mountain and getting drunk - something like that?
The writer is Latin American and may be a Nobel Prize-winner, which narrows the field, but I am unable to find it. Can anybody help me?

I think the story you are remembering is Juan Rulfo's "Nos han dado la Tierra".
