Hi Claire, thanks for introducing yourself. I've been thinking about reading some of Roald Dahl's adult books for years - might be a good idea for next month's nominations:)
We have a film thread. I hardly ever watch T.V. - much prefer a film/movie or a good book. I did study a bit about film and I love getting in to chats about the details of films.

Hello and welcome Claire!I love films, too and I also look forward to movies made of books I love with a good portion of scepticism, I'm always worried they'll mess up the story.
Hello everyone,I'm Adi, 41f, married+2 and two cats.
I live in Israel, and work in Tel Aviv as an editor and book reviewer for The Jerusalem Post.I am a mother of two teenage boys, and am always getting more and more obsessed about books and reading.
I joined this group since I appreciate and enjoy modern British lit, and want to learn what others have to say about the books I'm reading and the ones I plan to read.
Nice to meet you all, and thank you for accepting me in your group.

Hi, I'm Abi (Abitha on the forum) and I love to read. (This sounds like a bad introduction at AA! Haha) I was starved for books as a child and tea the Harry potter series a bazillion times. Now I'm older, I horde books and never leave the house without one! (I think at last count I had over 150 books...and I've bought them all within the last three years) I'll read pretty much anything. As long as it's well written!
Hi all-I'm Lucy (molehilli/Moley on the Forum but with a real life nickname of "Kitty", lol). I'm 39 next month, live in North Norfolk quite near to some lovely beaches, enjoy making "assorted arty crafty stuff", have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and some other special powers of awesome, have two teenage girlies (also with EDS), three cats mad cats and an invisible unicorn, named Brian.*
I started reading at the age of three and never stopped, often having two books on the go at once-one upstairs, one downstairs. Actually sometimes three, lol. I have a nonfiction on the go atm too. (((books)))
I read all kinds of everything and often go off on a tangent online, looking up something that leads to a page, then another, then another...
I've discovered some gems-and ditched some real stinkers-c/o the free Kindle books email** but don't really have a favourite genre as such. I need to start borrowing Kindle books via my local library, really-I hate paying for books I may ditch in disgust within two chapters, lol.
I have lots of bookshelves with 'real life old school books' that I cannot bear to part with. They are memories I like to revisit, like old friends. <3
* I lied about Brian.

Hello lovely ((squishes))
Welcome to the group, it's been a little quiet of late but some of us are reading or re-reading 'Good Omens' as our group read and we're just nominating for the next one from the list of previously banned books so please join in, especially if you want to share your favouritest ever books or suchlike.
And yes we know Brian is just you in your unicorn hoodie, you don't fool us ;)

Hi Lucy, nice to see you on here :) Hope you enjoy our little book group. It's been a bit quiet lately but hopefully now winter's nearly here we'll all start reading a bit more and the group will get a little more lively.
Hello Jo and Sophia! xxx I've read Good Omens and have it here still (in real, live book form, in fact!) and really enjoyed it. As for banned books, I have wossname-"Solent Green" and the other wossname wossname-A Clockwork Orange.*Aha! A Brave New World. That was it, lol. Sorry-I have been properly laid up in bed/sofa only for over a week now and my head is full of fluff and candy floss.
* I really like this and have re-read it four times over the years, just because the language is so interesting, as well as the way it takes you off on flights of pondering-comparing and contrasting to Shakespeare and then on to more recent mods/rockers type films and then to the modern riots and films on "the yoof of today".
But I digress. Lovely to see you all and I hope to have a proper nosey around soon. Sorry I haven't been on here much as yet. xxx

Sorry it's taken me a week or so to post a welcome, better late then never though eh?!
I am Claire (claire6284 on the forum), I'm 28 and I live in Worcestershire with my OH and 4 guinea pigs.
At the moment I don't read as much as I'd like to, mostly because I'll end up falling asleep when reading at night! But I'm trying to change that by setting aside time to read.
Growing up I was always reading, so much so that my Mum had to confiscate any torches as I would read once in bed, so I used to sit by my bedroom door and use the sliver of light from the landing to read by.
My favourite childhood author was Roald Dahl, and I'm considering reading the books he wrote for adults.
As well as reading I'm a big movie fan, but am always a little skeptical when a film of a book I've really enjoyed is released.
Looking forward to finding my way around the group and the site (some of it is a bit confusing!) and thanks for having me in the group.
xx
