She built it for strictly the teaching of the purest blooded of all witches. Originally, Durmstang Institute was an all-girls learning facility for witchcraft, and for the Dark Arts.
Over the years it expanded to accept students of both sexes, and was more focused on academics, no longer teaching the Dark Arts.
The school grew drastically and Isabella Durms-Trhang divided the school to Houses, named for her idols in the magical world.
To this day, Durmstrang is run by descendants of Isabella Durms-Thrang, though her name failed to live on, her offspring having been female.
