I read Congo years n years ago, Desley.I remember quite liking it but I wonder if it's a bit dated now.
I really enjoyed Congo, but then I am a fan of science/techno thrillers. It is a bit dry in parts and reads more like a science manuscript than a novel. There were some scenes I thought were really scary though.

Just finished The Sisters Brothers. My first non-indie book for few months.Just started Surviving Schizophrenia: A Tale of Sound and Fury. I usually don't go for these true-life story things. Or "misery-lit" as I have heard them called. This one is really well written though and I am finding it hard to put down. It's quite pricey for a self-published book at £5.70. Although admittedly I did pick it up when it had a free promotion day a few weeks ago.
I'm finding it very dry at the moment - i had a choice between that and The Andromeda strain and think i chose the wrong one!
I've just finished reading The Botticelli Secret which I struggled with. It doesn't appear to be on kindle any more though...
Now I'm just starting to read a short story that I downloaded from smashwords today - An Unexpected Date. I've just added it to goodreads, went to smashwords to download the photo and the book has been removed from smashwords, although it's still on amazon. Should I develop a complex - I read two books in a row which have disappeared from the place that I bought it from...

Just finished Quantum of Tweed: The Man with the Stolen Gun. Conn Iggulden and now started Abide with Me
I just finished Amanda Hocking's Hollowland. Wasn't bad; I actually enjoyed.I'm reading Daniel Arenson's Gods of Dream now. It's a middle grade YA, I think, but the author is truly unique in his ideas.
I finished An Unexpected Date in minutes. It was a very nice little story but short even for short stories. I got it free from smashwords, I wouldn't pay 77p for something that takes only minutes to read.
Now I've started one of the group reads, Wuthering Heights.

This morning I finished Parched - Z.L. Arkadie. I am going to carry on reading The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist - Darren Humphries.
Just finished Watching Swifts by RJ Askew. If you love language and its creative use you will devour this. I thought it was excellent but it might want too much reader involvement for some people. Just started Something Nice by Andrew Lawston but can't find it on the links. Short stories - really good!
Just finished Something Nice, 10 short stories by Andrew Lawston. It doesn't seem to be on Goodreads. Very good, extremely different, oddly disturbing stories!Just about to start My Demon by Lisa C Hinsley.
Started and finished The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge in one sitting - very thought-provoking.
Just finished Shelly the Lifeboat Dog. It was OK, but was more like a diary of her master, and what he did with her, than the dog. So wrong title too my way of thinking. Now reading
at chapter 10 and it is brilliant. I am loving it.
Just finished My Demon by Lisa C Hinsley. I felt it took a while to get going (but that's probably down to my lack of interest in teeneage girls' lives) but it soon began to grow in tension and excitement - I'd recommended it for certain.Just started The Wizard of Time by G L Breedon, recommended by DM Andrews and seconded by Jud! I'm only 7% in and if the chickens hadn't needed seeing to this morning I'd be there yet. wonderful!
Just finished Diana by R F Delderfield and started Heat Rises and Wuthering Heights for my book groups.
Glad my recommendations are being enjoyed!I've just started Awakening as I wanted to read something that I normally wouldn't; the prologue was interesting, but the first chapter quite dull. We'll see if I finish it ;)
Finished Fast Movin' Train and just started on Children of the Fog Know the author from Authonomy the writers' site, gripping read so far!
M, I've not read Children of the Fog yet, but I've seen that a lot of people who've bought my debut novel (The Serpent in the Glass) have also bought that one. Please do let me know why you think that is!
Nope - yes, I think I grabbed it. Just need to buy a Kindle now ;) Did have a brief look, but doesn't seem too close to mine...
Just finished the ultimate selection i don't know how it's got so many 5 star reviews,i think i must of been reading a different book.Just started Darkside: A Novel.
I've been trying to read Wuthering Heights again - I first read it years ago. I'm struggling with it because I just don't like the characters - selfish, self-centred grumpy-grots. I keep letting myself get distracted and have been reading some free romances and lots of short stories. I've also dipped in and out of a few things. I've more or less decided to give up on WH but can't settle into what to read instead...

Finished
today.Seriously good thriller set in Scotland around Loch Ness. Great characters!
Hard act to follow. I expect I'll dip into some short stories now.
Finished AN ELECTION OF PATRIOTSThe Imperfect Tense
Theo Mallier:Growing PainsThe Wrong Delivery - Corrin's EyesVols.1-3
The Selfish Act
I too started and quickly gave up on Wuthering Heights.
After more starting but not finishing books I've settled down to read The Girl in the Painted Caravan: Memories of a Romany Childhood. Eva Petulengro which I'm finding very interesting. Sounds like it was a good way of life and it's a shame that it's gone...
I started Before I Go To Sleep it's for my book club tomorrow night, not sure I'll get it finished I'm not particularly enjoying it and I'm a fair bit in so far.
Have you read The Midwive's Confession yet, Karen?I started it last night and I think it's going to be pretty excellent. I think it was a daily deal not long ago? Still very cheap though.

I didn't buy that one - I've added it to my wish list, thanks Patti.

Finished The Wizard of Time which is a seriously good fantasy story, and also Relationship Status by David Wailing. Short but a really good idea! Just started Ken McClure's The Lazarus Strain - Amazingly good and I'm only 29% through.
I really enjoyed Before I go to sleep Jud.I bought The Midwife's Confession Patti,I must move it up my list.
I think I read The Lazarus Strain as a DTB some years ago Kath.I have picked up a few of Ken McLures books recently.
Just finished Peter the Great going to start The Survival of Thomas Ford.It was on my wish list until I read all the good comments form you all.
