most likely! i'll just have to hurry home and read the rest of it to find out. Stupid work interupting my reading.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments This has been torture. Finally finished Momentum. Starting "In the Blood" now!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Just had a look through the members list to see how many of us have posted In the Blood as our currently reading, then realised I hadn't! Grief.

message 56: by Hippocratia (new)

Hippocratia | 2 comments Oh dear! I downloaded the sample a few days ago, and got round to reading it today. Unfortunately, crime isn't really a genre that I 'do', and I couldn't get to the end of the sample. Not Steve's fault in any way.

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments Yay! Get to start it this evening. First though I really have to go and make some dinner.

message 59: by Bluejay44 (new)

Bluejay44 Have made a start now, enjoying it more than I expected as it is not a genre I would normally read.

Janis Moore | 22 comments Going up to bed to read after Miranda. Needed to get These Things Hidden out of my head.

message 61: by Lisa (LisaS161) (new)

Lisa (LisaS161) (lisas161) | 8 comments I'm afraid I'm another than can only cope with reading one book at once and I'm a slow reader to top it all off, although reading a lot more since I got my beloved Kindle.
However I have been reading one sample a day since my Kindle arrived so have downloaded that and going to read it later to get a taste of it. Not sure if I'll be able to read the book in time to take part in this but will try.

message 62: by Kerstie (new)

Kerstie | 42 comments im half way through the book and loving it.

message 63: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments Just over a third of the way in and I'm getting that "want to read more but don't feeling". That's I want to read more to quickly find out more because its so interesting but then I don't want to read more quickly because then I'll be finished sooner!

OK Steve, I'm really enjoying the book and its tangled web and so pleased there will be more when I finish it. Good luck with the tree publishing.

message 64: by Mary (new)

Mary | 27 comments I'm reading but struggling to keep going. Got to do the Sunday lunch at same time and boys in the living room keep groaning as another wicket goes down, but so far, book is intriguing. Too much street naming, yeah, I get it, we're in Mawan Smith...give us a map if necessary. However, good story and will finish it.

message 65: by Kerstie (new)

Kerstie | 42 comments finished this book this morning, great book.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments 39%
Really enjoying it. I am finding the historical bits surprisingly interesting as it isn't my regular reading. I tend to agree with Mary about the place naming but it is a very minor issue. Already had ninety pence worth by any measure.

message 67: by Chookgate (new)

Chookgate | 74 comments 42% - Chapter 30
Hadn't noticed "street naming". I just hope there's a resolution at the end, I'm finding I get quite absorbed for a few chapters, then totally lose interest for a while - no idea why, as when I go back to it, I read on eagerly.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I am a fidget reader. I read a chapter, get up and do something else then carry on.....

message 69: by Freddiesmum (new)

Freddiesmum | 137 comments well I am enjoying this, its probably a good way to get into crime ...so to speak!! lol....as its got loads of history and so is half of what I often choose to read anyway! at 20% and sorry I had to switch my trusty and beloved Kindle off to go to work!!
so far so very good!

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Just started it, but so far I'm enjoying it.

I'm half way through & cant wait to get on with it. This week my daughter has come to stay as she is quite ill & with son in law at work I am having to look after my 7 month old granddaughter as well as her Mum so I am not getting much time to read.( Not complaining of course) Why do things like this always happen when you have a good book on the go?
Anyway she is quite a lot better today so I should be able to get it finished soon, It really is a great book!!

message 72: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments I know this is a crime mystery but can you please solve my little mystery?

I'm now on page 5838 of 7043 - can this be real numbers?

Thoroughly enjoying the story and I'm just confused by the page numbering. I thought they must be very little pages as it increases by several numbers at a time.

message 73: by Simon (Highwayman) (last edited Jul 26, 2011 06:59AM) (new)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I think it should say location 5838 of 7043
edit: and if it does then this is real although my copy has 7044 locations.

message 74: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Mine only had percentage. I assume there is a button you press for locations and I haven't pressed it?

So you kept the ending to yourself did you? I have only 7043 locations.

Sorry to be so dumb but what is a location? Have I changed something so it no longer tells me page numbers?

message 76: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments OK not so dumb after all - I found the answer to my locations question in the Kindle help.

But I still don't have 7044 locations!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Perhaps Steve has been editing at some point.

message 78: by Chookgate (new)

Chookgate | 74 comments Mine's got 7044 locations.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments We must have the deluxe edition chookgate.

message 80: by Chookgate (new)

Chookgate | 74 comments Maybe you get an extra one when you finish it? I finished it last night, and am still "digesting" it before writing a review.

message 81: by Steve (new)

Steve Robinson (steverobinson) | 2926 comments Hmm... You could compare last pages. I did add an about the author page at the last update a couple of weeks ago, but that was before I joined Goodreads. Depends on when the version with 7043 locations was purchased, I guess.

message 82: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments mine has 7044 locations too. does anyone know what exactly the locations are? I find them pretty uninformative i'd rather just have page numbers but then i dont know what they are trying to tell me...

The use of locations or percentages is necessary because the page you are on is dictated by the size of the font you use. In large font you'd need more pages and page numbers. I'd rather put up with the strangeness of being 38% through a book than lose the ability to change font when I forget my reading glasses.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning everyone! Another busy day in store but I'm not moving til I've had my coffee! So there!
I admit that initially having locations was odd. Now I either ignore it or find it quite helpful. It's better than having no idea how far along I am in my book, anyway.

You know i never thought of that. I'm happy enough with % anyway if i really want to know what page i'm on i can go to the bookstore.

message 87: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments Locations are fine by me now I know what they are.

Have to say that I thought the page numbers were related to the actual printed page numbers as indicated by the ISBN page numbers and not dependant on the Kindle page size.

Now that makes sense, Angela. I wonder if that's the case.

message 89: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 75 comments At last I was able to start the book last night and just read the first 15%.
So far an enjoyable read but I have a niggle I know the gist of the story. No doubt I will be wrong as this happens whenever I read a mystery crime type book.
I have never read a book club choice before but for me this was a perfect choice. It is well written without being too literary. Looking forward to trying to squeeze a couple of hours in today.
Happy reading.

I bet you don't know what happens Lisa. Report back and tell us how you get on ;)

Not really sure how it all works just yet.

message 94: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Joined Facebook once at the instigation of my techie son-in-law. After a couple of months I 'de-faced' myself. I got sick of being poked and sent fishes and other barmy stuff. Still, if I had anything like ITB to flog, I'd be there!

message 95: by Steve (new)

Steve Robinson (steverobinson) | 2926 comments Yes, I thought I should be, but I'm yet to be convinced. Still, early days and I'll try most things once.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I had a lovely if garbled chat with my dental hygienist this afternoon. Told her all about your book and the group and I'm expecting her to join this evening. Yep, she's another rabid kindler!

Garbled chat... So your dentist will be searching Amazon for a copy of 'Im n Blub' :o) Thanks for passing it on, Patti.
