I am impressed! More like stunned...How did you arrange all those radio spots? Do you have a publicist?
I live in the middle of nowhere-- there are only 2 million people in my entire state...I need to get the word out about my novel and radio seems like a great medium...
Well done, sir!

I'm glad I didn't have to do much to get it arranged. A PR firm is probably the best way to go. The key is to set up questions (with your answers) in advance. Keep them punchy and most of all keyed to current events and hot topics. That's what they told me to do when I was preparing talking points. That way it's easy for radio interviews. They can jump in and ask questions that are already interesting without having to immerse themselves in your book first.

Hello Again,
I'm not familiar with Tor. I'm assuming they are a PR firm? Was your book traditionally published or self-published? And, if self-published, how did you find this firm? What kinds of fees do they charge? Thank you in advance!

message 111: by Warren (new)

Warren Fahy | 91 comments Tor is a traditional publisher, part of Macmillan (one of the "Big Six" publishers). So they do their own PR. From what I can glean, though, the principal holds true. If you write up a 1-sheet with questions and answers that are liable to grab the attention of a radio jock, they have a lot of time to fill up. Sending them a press release might get you on the air if the topic is interesting to the host.

T.R. Locke (trlocke) | 4 comments Hello fellow James Mason Members,

Just a note to let you know the 2nd edition of my book "What I Wish I Knew Before I Moved to Hollywood" is available exclusively on Amazon Kindle (released 3/7/13) at 1/3 the paperback price: http://goo.gl/AB23N

In addition, to get attention for it, I'm doing a book giveaway of signed first edition paperbacks here on Goodreads: http://goo.gl/q4DPj

Finally, I'm in need of some reviews--esp here on GR (but other (Amazon) as well, if you like). I made the mistake of arguing politics with a guy last year on FB and he came on here and attacked the 1st ed of my book. Amazon removed his attack, but GR has not yet. Plus GR unfortunately attached it to the 2nd edition. Since GR has that review linked to the 2nd edition as well, I'm willing to send free review copies to anyone from the group who's willing to post a review (positive or negative about the book). Just inbox me your email and I'll send a .mobi file.

Thanks for your help and support. And please spread the word for me.

All my best,
T. R. Locke What I Wish I Knew Before I Moved to Hollywood (2nd ed.) by T.R. Locke

Brannon | 4 comments My name is Brannon Sirmon and I have re-published my great-grandfather's authentic WWI diary. This book will be free for members until 3/31.

That’s War, as a finished book, is an exact replica of the authentic World War I diary of William Arthur Sirmon. The youngest of 4 children from the outskirts of Mobile, Alabama, he grew up to become the highest decorated officer in Georgia(where he settled after serving in both World Wars), and arguably one of the most highly decorated American soldiers of the entire Great War. His indelible experiences from training men in camp to the battlefronts in Europe are detailed in this book, including the act of becoming an honorary citizen of France. While the literary subject of WWI is not new, I have been hard pressed to discover a resource that gives the reader a definitive point of view from behind the medals. In short, this is the book that embodies the thoughts, actions, reflections and emotions of what it was like to serve America, and the world, in the fight for freedom.

I'm trying to get reviews and ratings to make That's War a success so I can use it as a platform to help disabled veterans.

Here is a coupon code that will allow you to download it for free: NA86T. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
If you are interested please enjoy, on me.

Eldorado by Jay Allan Storey

In post Peak-Oil Vancouver, the world of bookish community college instructor Richard Hampton is blown apart when his younger brother Danny disappears and the police are too busy keeping a lid on a hungry, overcrowded city to search for him.

Richard must make the transformation to street-smart warrior to survive when he jumps the Food Train to the disintegrating suburbs in a desperate search for Danny and his dog, Zonk.

Branded a criminal by a community of outcasts, imprisoned, and condemned to death, Richard is rescued by streetwise Carrie, who joins in his search.

They trek across the remnants of the sprawling suburbs, facing criminal gangs, renegade militias, and the hardships of the road. Gradually their friendship evolves into something more.

The trail finally unwinds at a deserted complex in the remotest corner of the suburbs. What they discover there will alter their lives and their world forever.

If any of you are in the Philadelphia area please feel free to attend. My novel depicts the international intrigue surrounding the love affair between an Egyptian Secret Service Agent and an Israeli woman during the 1956 Suez War. The book, however, spans 3,000 years of history and is a combination of Romeo and Juliet, Samson and Delilah, and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Eighty per cent of the plot is true and the rest is poetic license courtesy of Shakespeare, John Keats, Matthew Arnold, Robert Frost, and Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
