Sarah (Simonito) | 17 comments Hey guys, we'll meet to discuss this book on Sunday, August 14, at 2:30 pm. See you then!

Sarah (Simonito) | 17 comments Hey guys, I just got around to reading a recent Johns Hopkins Magazine article about Henrietta Lacks (it's one of the ones I linked to in the last email), and I think it's pretty good follow-up for this book. It briefly explains, with examples, some of the reasons why many scientists and researchers are reluctant to give compensation for donated (and "donated") biological materials.

This book was utterly fascinating--especially the beginning and the discussions of the "science" rather than the family story. Can't wait for the August dicussion!
