Mandy (mandypants) That totally blows. Sorry, Jane. :-(

message 202: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Yeah - being at the 'arse end of the world' (quote from a previous Australian Prime Minister!) does that :(

message 203: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Wow you're right, the prices to you are horrible, even for used copies. It looks like The book depository may be the best option. I found both Skip Beat and Nana for good prices, looks like they are on sale:

message 204: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments They both show as A$8.48 to me...(not discounted). I think I try to check out my store next week - if it isn't any good, I'll order one from BD ;)

message 205: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Well they're normally $9 or so dollars, so it's like $7 something for the first, but the same price you mentioned for the second.

message 206: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Oh well - not too far out the ballpark... If the Aussie dollar keeps rising against the greenback, I'll buy in US$ :)

message 207: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Dee, did you get your copy to Love Mode yet? I'm going to start a re-read on the series right now. Just can't seem to find anything else that appeals right now.

message 208: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I did, but haven't even had a chance to look at it - i'm neck deep in library books

message 209: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Well i finished re-reading the entire series already.LOL

message 210: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments LOL Rossy!

message 211: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ugh, so far behind on this challenge!!

message 212: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments Dee, we have a whole year- don't stress me out! I am behind too, lol

message 213: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i know...I just see these people are almost done and its like OMG!!

message 214: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments I'm quite comfortable pottering away at my speed. I think I'm probably around the same pace as you two, Fran and Dee. I've read 4 out of 12 and am planning on reading two more this month... mainly because one fit the chick-lit category in the monthly challenge, and the other because I REALLY want to read it and don't want to wait any longer :)

message 215: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments on the other hand, I'm doing the full load - so I think my final list is like 22 books

message 216: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Oh - You need to read about two a month I guess Dee... I was really only planning one each month, but I knocked 3 off in the first month - which suited me as it gave me breathing room. I might yet drop the chick-lit book this month...

message 217: by Dee (last edited Oct 02, 2011 05:01PM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I had one DNF already, so I got to find something to put it its place

but a lot of the ones I listed were pre-orders - I think the first of which comes out on the 15th (for my M/M pick)

message 218: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Geez - have I been reading some M/M lately!! I think I've read 4 in the last month or so!

Just knocked off your rec Faith & Fidelity, Dee! Had some issues with BOTH H/Hs having no idea they were gay - but loved the second half of the book :) If the next book is about James - I'm IN!! ;)

I had read M/M before but not in this contemporary format - LOVE it!!

message 219: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments yeah, the next one is about James and then book 3 goes back to the original two...Cut & run is similar, in the GFY sense

message 220: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Cut & Run and The Archer are on my Sony, along with Promises... There are probably more that are waiting, I just can't think of them off-hand...

What does GFY mean? (I'm still getting my abbreviations down-pat...)

message 221: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments GFY - gay for you - those are the ones where one or the other discover they are gay and hadn't been previously (or hadn't admitted it to themselves)

message 222: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Oct 03, 2011 04:16PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments I'm perfectly fine with one being GFY - but I was a bit at sea with BOTH... I'm sure it has happened, but - wow - had trouble getting my head around it. Even though both in Hot Head were GFY, it seemed more natural and I didn't have the same difficulty believing in them. I don't know why that is...??

message 223: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i hadn't thought about it that way, but then F&F was the first true m/m I read - I didn't have anything else to judge it off of. In C&R, Ty (IIRC) has had some guy on guy encounters, but never truely admitted it - I think...i wish I had time for a re-read before book 4 came out

message 224: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments Is Divide and Conquer book 4??

message 225: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments You are getting me excited to read Cut & Run!!! LOL... But Fran is reading Promises so I thought I might read that one first (in between all the challenge reads!)...

message 226: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments I have Cut and Run somewhere, but I really want to read Promises first! I think Cut and Run is kind of a thriller/suspense story and I'm not really into that.

message 227: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments Jane, I sent you a PM back about reading Promises together-whenever you are ready!

message 228: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments I love both - so I'm up for whoever is reading whatever first!! (I'm so easy! ;)

message 229: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments just posted the replacement book for the category I DNF'd - i'm going to try Under Fishbone Clouds

message 230: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ahhh fucknuts! i for some reason blanked on Under Fishbone Clouds and returned it to the library - i'm an idiot - i'll have to borrow it again

message 231: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments LOL! Welcome to the wonderful world of forgetfulness :)

message 232: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments lol! i'm trying to rememebr why I returned it - I don't think I read it...maybe I confused it with another HF book I wanted to read...oh wells

message 233: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments If in doubt - read the precis :) That usually jogs the memory unless it is a Harlequin romance - those can be hard to distinguish between sometimes! (I've definitely bought the same book twice a couple of times with them/Mills & Boon :)

message 234: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments yeah - its not a harlequin - I think I picked it up as a historical fiction set in China for another challenge, and then got an ARC to read instead...lol! i'll grab it again

message 235: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24475 comments I'm being diverted off into the M/M world all the time at the mo! You were so BAD to introduce me to that genre!

message 236: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments who me, never ;)

message 237: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2813 comments Is Shit My Dad Says better read or on audio?

message 238: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32105 comments Vi wrote: "Is Shit My Dad Says better read or on audio?"

I didn't read it, but the audio was enjoyable.

message 239: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments Vi,

I read it first then listened to it on audio. I loved reading it. I really liked the audio too, but not the person who narrated the father so much. He was ok, but not what I pictured when I read it. I don't think you can wrong either way, it's so good!

message 240: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2813 comments Thanks, Fran and MountainKat! If both are good, then I'll go with whichever comes first from the library.

message 241: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments maybe I please have the mods permission to make a change - i've had Bumped reserved at the library for close to 6 months now (since before we started this challenge). i checked the other day, i'm still 3/3 waiting for it, the library has ordered another copy, but its hung up in the system and they don't know when it is going to come in, and they don't accept book donations, so I don't really want to order it from Amazon and get stuck with it...TIA

message 242: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments Change accepted Dee- go ahead and pick another book :)

message 243: by Dee (last edited Dec 29, 2011 06:36AM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments thanks Fran!!!

i'm going to substitute Where She Went as my YA book

message 244: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments lol...guess what showed up at the library today...haha! i'm going to read it and use it as well as the one I ultimately ended up reading

message 245: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12307 comments Of course as soon as you replace it it shows up!

message 246: by Ola (new)

Ola (oh_la) | 18 comments I have a question I want to change my World Lit genre, from "The kite runner" to The God of Small Things
by Arundhati Roy. is that possible?
P.S: this will be my 1st book to change.

Hi Ola!

If you have read a few chapters of The Kite Runner and decided it really isn't to your liking, then you can change it to The God of Small Things- I hope you like that one better :)

message 248: by Ola (new)

Ola (oh_la) | 18 comments Thanks Fran. I hope so too.
