I'm rereading Emma and was struck by the fact that there is no scene where Emma encounters Frank Churchill on the road to Highbury. It's such a memorable scene in the Romola Garai and Gwyneth Paltrow Emmas that I was sure it was in the book.

It's very easy to criticize Hollywood for ruining books; it can be a surprise to realize how much a good film can add sometimes.

Sophie oh yeah that it true... it doesn't happen!!! wow... its like that with many of the novels i find.
I find it strange that the line - 'I am determined that nothing but the deepest love will induce me into matrimony' doesn't appear in book of P&P- but does in 1995 and 2005 adaptions - shame it isn't as i think it summaries Lizzie's view on love and marriage perfectly. :)
