Laura | 20 comments As a counselor, what would you do to help students understand the appropriate way to handle situations instead of going by "the rules" (fist fights)?

Kristi Boese | 20 comments This would be a difficult task to tackle with Rowdy. It sounds like he has seen fighting be the answer to resolve issues and express feelings his whole life. I think I would use a lot of role-play activities with the students. I would try for deep reflection on feelings in the moment and offer alternative means of dealing with the situation.

Karla Cummings | 23 comments I would have students try on the other "shoe" and see what it would be the other person. I think talking with the kids about the anger and not judging them but sitting down with them to come up with alternative solutions would be good. I think in Rowdy's case an anger management group would be appropriate also.
