Sahar (sahar27) | 59 comments i think not selecting the right leaders is the problem...and then it all leads to education problem...lots of villages r not at all educated..and they go on voting for the rong person....because they think thats the only political party...in Pakistan...i think Imran Khan is the right person to vote for the other problem is that lots of political partys r giving money to people to vote for them....plz people vote for the right person....we r the only ones who can save pakistan!!

message 9: by Talia (new)

Talia (Yeshal) | 73 comments hy dulcet u may be right but the major problem is that 55% of our population is uneducated and these politician who r hiring peoples r these uneducated ones, nd there we shall have to take a step ahead nd should help these peoples to lead them the right way, i think atleast we should tell them or place that thought in there mnd that this person is gonna going to solve there problems righteously, there i mean some sort of brain washing.........

message 10: by Talia (new)

Talia (Yeshal) | 73 comments we r not only the only ones............. but that 55% has a mojor role, which is important in the eyes and future of every one

message 11: by Sahar (new)

Sahar (sahar27) | 59 comments i agree...not 55%...70%

message 12: by Talia (new)

Talia (Yeshal) | 73 comments how......70%

message 13: by Sahar (new)

Sahar (sahar27) | 59 comments lots of people here r not educated...i thinks they must be atleast 70%

message 14: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 06, 2011 05:57AM) (new)

Err if only the ones fortunate to get an education, returned back there and gave something back to the country it wouldnt be in the mess. Nearly every educated person wants to move out, I know I shouldnt pass judgment when I dont live there or face the problems they do on a daily basis, and theres nothing wrong with wanting to give a better life to your children..... but honestly it annoys me if all the talent moves out, how can u ever become a great nation, one day I might even move back set up a school and teach kids myself :)

message 16: by Shahzaib (last edited Jul 08, 2011 06:57AM) (new)

Shahzaib (zaib) | 36 comments The Real Problem in Pakistan is that Everyone is too scared to face the reality instead they want to pretend that nothing is going on.People don't believe in anything other than they want to believe in. No one admits his or hers mistake but they rather point others doing the same and say "why don't you make them stop first". If you ever discuss the situation of the country, most of the people say "yeh saab america karaha hai (America is Behind all of this). None has the guts to admit that America is taking advantage of us because we are weak,we are corrupted,WE ARE RESPONSIBLE

Javed Hayat (javed_hayat) Hi all. From khi, a new comer to this neck of the woods.

Well... I thought we were here to talk about literature, reading, or even writing perhaps, rather than the socio-politico-economic etc etc problems? Or am I missing something here?

Javed Hayat (javed_hayat) Furqan wrote: "yes Lev_Boy your are missing the whole meaning of FORUM and COMMUNITY :D"

@Furqan: Well, bro. Did it occur to you that the forum or community at a literary/reading site like goodreads ought to have something more relevant to talk about, other than all the "problems" facing our country.

I mean, for crow's sake, dont we as a nation whine enough about whats wrong with our lives at every god for saken platform( or corner!) that we can find for ourselves....

Am sorry but does it state anywhere on goodreads site that we are limited to discuss thing related to reading? Sure it's a site where people usually discuss books, but as long as the website owner ain't forbidding us we are doing nothing wrong. And haven't you ever read non fictional books? I could name 10 different books on the problems of Pakistan, why is discussing those books any different to what we are doing???
And you might be one of those who whine about their nation but don't you dare judge the entire population cause of one individual actions...
I for one have no problem discussing problems of my country. If I don't even know what's wrong with my country how will I ever try to reform it???

message 25: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 07, 2011 09:10AM) (new)

I agree with Fariha we should be open to discuss anything relevant to Pakistan, literature comes from society and problems around us. Why is english literature so famous, because many writers, of past centuries described society and problems through their stories and understanding developed. Amongst readers, this insight into current Pakistan problems can be healthy and potentially give readers ideas and prompt interests to develop which can increase further reading /writing, so discussion should be encouraged, I for one am all ears.

I have limited knowledge of pakistan politics, but believe social activism can be an answer, all the various factions need to unite, the youth there need to get involved in more voluntary projects, educate the newer younger generation in your spare time, set up local youth groups, that why you can stop terrorist setting up camp and preying on children.
