I think S. M. Stirling's The Sky People and In the Courts of the Crimson Kings have sf writers. (Venus and Mars are terraformed a la John Carter of Mars).

I just remembered Time After Time has H.G. Wells himself as a time traveler.

The Map of Time features H.G. Wells as a character. I'm reading The Astounding, the Amazing, and the Unknown: A Novel and it's a lot of fun so far. Lot's of cameos

I am reading The Map of Time right now as well, although have not gotten to the H.G. Wells part yet, since only about 70 pages in so far.
