Welcome everyone to an online discussion of Guns, Germs, and Steel: A short history of everybody for the last 13,000 years.

This online discussion will go in 6 parts:
Preface & Prologue
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Epilogue & Wrap-up

This week's discussion is on the Preface & Prologue.

Starting the conversation, Diamond asks the questions:
1. Why weren't Native Americans, Africans, and Australian Aboriginals the ones that subjugated and suppressed Europeans & Asians?

2. Why did human development proceed at different rates on different continents?

3. Do the answers to these questions justify colonization?

4. Why is it easy to assume that people from these (aforementioned) countries are less intelligent than Europeans & Asians?

Any takers on trying to answer these questions before we get to the meat of part 1?
