Lori (moderatrixlori) Because sometimes an image just speaks to you...

The mile long pride flag stretched across the Ringling bridge last year at my hometown's pride event.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

That's just awesome. :) I spotted an SUV driving east on I-80 with this spray-painted on the back window in big block letters: "I'm proud of my gay cousin!" That was during last year's pride month, though.

message 3: by Pickles (new)

Pickles (angstypickles) I took this pic at pride here in Chicago last weekend. I love the colored shadow on the ground. :)

message 4: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) That's really cool Harper! It's like a double rainbow.

message 5: by Darkm (new)

Darkm | 171 comments I love both photos.
The shadow formed on the ground is really cool.

This photo has been taken from a friend at the Pride here. I love the image of the colosseum, which is the symbol of my city, with the rainbow flag. It makes me hope in a brighter future for everybody here.

message 6: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Very cool photo Darkm. Love the colosseum in the background.

That picture turned out great Harper! I didn't even notice that shadow at the time.

message 8: by Pickles (new)

Pickles (angstypickles) Great pic, Darkm!

Sadonna, I didn't notice it until I looked at the pic after, but it did come out really good. I wonder if Lucy has a similar shot.

Sigh. Me too. Gave me chills, though.

Darkm | 171 comments L. C. Italy is good for some things and not so good for many others. I'm thinking to move more days than not :)

Tara | 2 comments I love this pic. It is the Empire State Building the night the gay marriage bill was passed in NY.

message 12: by Anne (new)

Anne Tenino (annetenino) Wow, Tara, that's a fantastic picture!

message 13: by Karen K (new)

Karen K (karenkleinshawca) | 48 comments Just wanted to share a few pics from San Francisco Pride - it was my first pride and though I hadn't expected quite so much political involvement (maybe it's because I'm Canadian), it was a great experience. I'm sharing a few pics of what I think Pride is all about. I hope they count as inspirational. :)

And finally, the most important part - the love.

message 14: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Those are great Karen!

message 15: by Darkm (new)

Darkm | 171 comments Great photos karen :)

It's a cool picture, but that was the first thing I thought- "Oh my God, what if they fall!?" LOL.

Anne Tenino (annetenino) That's beautiful! Anyone recognize the city?

message 25: by Bookwatcher (last edited Jul 24, 2011 12:49PM) (new)

Bookwatcher (bookwatcher) It could be the Cataratas do Iguaçu, between Brazil and Argentina.

Seeing this image I think it's there (also because Argentina is the first South American country were gay couples can get married).
I'm crossing my fingers Brazil will be the next
:-)
(there are a lot of discussion in my country, I hope soon also Brazil will accept gay rights, including marriage)

But maybe it's not there... looks a lot like it, The Cataratas to Iguaçu

editing: sorry guys, maybe it's not... the city behind it is strange... I mean could be but there is not huge city near it.

and the gay pride from my city
"The Parada do Orgulho GLBT de Sao Paulo, in Portuguese, has grown from 2,000 participants in 1997 to 3 mi. the 2000's. They made to the Guinness Book in 2006 for the world’s biggest Gay Pride celebration. 4 million people are expected for 2011. "

Sao Paulo, Brazil
:-)

Bookwatcher (bookwatcher) Ok Anne!
http://www.gaypridebrazil.org/sao-paulo/
It's HUGE... believe me all city stop to the gay pride (normally it's in the weekend). The parade is in the most famous streets of the city.
:-)
Ohhhhhh L.C. I would love too!
:-P
but I can't
:-(

Anne Tenino (annetenino) L.C. wrote: "Anne - Come up the coast next weekend! Its Vancouver Pride on Sunday. Karen and I are going to try meet up, since she'll be here this week too."

Cool! I'll pencil it in for about 2014, LOL.

There should be a Pride tour. Maybe a Pride Crawl sort of thing. That would rock.

Bookwatcher (bookwatcher) hahahaha, Anne there is already
Sao Paulo 2011 LGBT Gay Pride Travel Packages
June 2011
http://www.gaypridebrazil.org/sao-pau...
And for 2012 they are already taking suggestions
http://www.gaypridebrazil.org/sao-pau...
If someone contact them certainly there is a English speaker that sell it :D not kidding... Sao Paulo is always traying to get in the Guinness Book again, so they help people, also tourists, to get there
:-P
we WILL enter in the Guiness again! :D

message 32: by Anne (new)

Anne Tenino (annetenino) It's such an admirable goal. XD

I'd love to go in the future. I'm putting it on the list (you know, the long list of places I need to see before I die).

Ibis3 | 62 comments L.C. wrote: "Actually, the rainbow waterfall (LOVE that shot!), looks like Niagara Falls, Ontario, with Toronto in the background. "

Niagara Falls, but not Toronto which is across Lake Ontario (or 130 km away by car around it). The city in the background is Niagara Falls, NY. I'm pretty sure that's the Seneca Casino on the far left.

Elizabeth Kirke (morethanmagic) | 41 comments I wish I had been able to take a picture of this. I was in New York shortly after they passed the bill and I drove by a church flying a rainbow flag. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy =)

Love that! Here in Minneapolis St. Mary's Basilica had a rainbow banner hanging from the bell tower for Pride week. Maybe next year I'll share a picture.
