During her lifetime Mother Teresa had become synonymous with saintliness. But in 1994, three years before her death, journalist Christopher Hitchens made this provocative film asking if her reputation was deserved.

documentary in 3 parts + Penn & Teller: Bullshit on Mother Teresa

Daniel (deltakilo) | 22 comments The reputation of Theresa is an interesting example of something that is untrue, and yet everyone just sort of believes, religious or not. Not that it's something that people are uncritical about, per se, simply that they never thought to think about it. And I myself was included in that until Hitchens' work pointed it out to me, and for that I am thankful.

Daniel (deltakilo) | 22 comments Hitchens' book about this, "The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice" just came in from amazon, so I'll soon be able to get a better understanding of the argument against her.

Lee Harmon (DubiousDisciple) Didn't Hitchens wind up apologizing for statements he made about Mother Teresa? Said if hell exists, she belongs there? Something like that. So now he's writing about her?
