I need to edit an ongoing list of both fiction and nonfiction books for a nonprofit group. They would like it sorted by subject matter. Does anyone know of a very detailed site that would list each subject? The library's description is not thorough enough -- rather than stating "psychology" or "sociology" or "mothers/daughters" my list needs to be broken down by sujbects like "alcoholism", "homelessness", etc.--even for fiction books. I'm hoping there is a shortcut out there for me.......... if you know of anything I would appreciate the help!

Erin, if you really want to be professional about it, go to http://authorities.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pw... and search the Library of Congress's subject headings. You could also check out the Library of Congress Online Catalog at http://catalog.loc.gov/ . Search for the books you have and see what subject headings they give them. Good luck.
