The Chemistry between Sookie and Bill is pretty evident.
And EWWWW on the end shot of the evil Vamp when his eyes rolled back.
This episode was pretty awesome although I hate how they're ending the episodes w/stressful cliffhangers!
Oh and has anyone else noticed that characters have been pronouncing 'Rattrays' differently episode to episode?
Also, I thought Anna Paquin's breasts were larger. She needs to gain some weight and hopefully some of it will go into her chest area!
I LOVE GRAN!
Oh and yes in the book(s) the vamps have to be invited in.

I don't think he was that bad in the books. They are way too nasty on the series. I think I would enjoy it a lot more if they stuck to building characters and their emotional relationships.

My husband, bless his heart, has been listening to me rave about the book series for years and be so impatient for the series to start on HBO. He has watched the first 2 episodes with me and seems like he is getting into them. He asks me questions all the time about the characters and even blushes during the sex scenes. I think they are a bit much myself. I could do without them actually, leave more time to develop the characters. Still anxiously awaiting Sookie's visit to Fangtasia...

**To people that haven't read the books, this may be a bit spoilerish**
From Watch With Kristin on EOnline.com
"In episode four, Sookie and Bill go to that vamp club in Shreveport and meet Eric, a huge part of the show's mythology, played by superfine Swede Alexander Skarsgård. Admittedly, the hotness is somewhat diminished by the silly wig, but I'm sure you'll forgive him. Anyway, like vampire Bill, vampire Eric is intrigued by Sookie's telepathic abilities."

I have no problem with Bill. In fact I have a little vamp-crush on him. Especially after episode two. I loved it when he played with her hair.
I only read book 1 and Tara is not in it so I have no comparison to the book. At least not yet.
I have never read Undead Unwed series. Was it good?

I really, really don't mind the nudity, but it's just so pointless because I really, really don't care about Jason. They can feature a mostly-naked Bill all they want...

The reason we didn't see Jason's exploits in the books is because they're written in first person. We're in Sookie's head in the books, so we only hear about Jason's exploits.
Charlaine seems to approve of the way her books are being reinterpreted, and I think they're being extremely faithful to the source material.
The explicit sex doesn't bother me. It's HBO, after all.

I don't see this Tara being sucked into the vampire world like Tara in the books. I like her though, so it's cool.

Ranata - I'm with you girl. Anna as Sookie is growing on me too and now I even hear her voice when I'm reading the books! I do wish she wasn't quite so skinny. She's definately not built how the books describe Sook.
Rebecca - You're absolutely right! The books are all from Sookie's perspective so they have to depict those scenes she's not in by showing us what happened. The sex doesn't bother me at all. I was a little weird watching the first one with my 17 year old son, but I had warned him ahead of time. And jason was a big time ho and like Ranata said, I think he's being played just like he should be.
Lafayette is a hoot and man can he act the crap out of playing a queen. My son was so convinced he wondered if he's actually gay. I really like Tara too. Her character is not true to the books but I think she adds a lot to the series.
I sure hope they don't screw up Eric. He better be hot and smoldering and make me think dirty thoughts just by looking at him.

I agree with Ranata, the HBO Jason is much dumber and shallower that the book Jason. I think the book Jason had issues for sure but Charlaine had more to him. He seems too stupid and singleminded in the tv series. I hope they show more to his character and he and Sookie's relationship later.

I think I caught a glimpse of him and he's pretty awesome but for some reason, I imagine him looking like Lucius Malfoy but younger. LOL

Considering what we find out about their family, Jason's mysterious ability to pick up women, the way almost everyone reacts to him, is all there in the first book. I wonder how much Charlaine had rattling around in her head when she penned Dead till Dark.
Tara does remind me of Jessica from the Betsy, Vampire Queen, books. And they have a major hang up on Gone With the Wind.... I didn't even notice Tara in the first book. I know she pops up in Club Dead and they greet each other like old friends. Without the internal dialogue, Sookie does need someone to play of of. In the books, she starts out as better friends with Arlene.

I don't know if you guys watched the the two shows that HBO aired before the first episode of True Blood but the actor who plays Eric was interviewed a couple of times. He looked okay but I dunno...the jury is still out until I see him as "Eric".

I don't consider it porn and since it's mainly only one character most of the time, I really dont' care. He's got a great body so what's not to like?

Anna Paquin as Sookie... still not sold on it. I can't really put a finger on why, but she just isn't the Sookie I've read about.
Jason needs to be a bit more fleshed out than a man ho. Hopefully as the show goes along, he'll develop a personality.

There is what TVguide.com states:
True Blood
9 pm/ET HBO New
With all of the hubbub about vampires sucking the blood out of mortals, one might have a hard time thinking of a situation that would call for reciprocity. But after Sookie gets the snot kicked out of her by the trashy Rattrays, that's just what happens when Bill swoops in with a remedy that, if word got out, could make doctors the whole world 'round obsolete. Of course, this exchange of bodily fluid significantly accelerates their courtship, so it's only natural that Bill comes calling at Gran's house to meet the family. — Joe Friedrich
