Me: Yup. Bar Mitzvah is for boys, Bat Mitzvah is for girls. It's not exactly a celebration of a girl's advance into womanhood, it's more about becoming a jewish adult and being counted as a jewish adult in a minyan, which is that there must be 10 jewish adults at every service, or, like, mass. It's just turned into an over-the-top party thing nowadays. The one I went to was carnival-themed and they gave out a sweatshirt and a bag and you could win prizes....-_-
