Emily (emilyabbott) | 12 comments ...when you wake up in the middle of the night and think "I have to read that book again !".
Trouble is, I can't recall the name of the author or the title of the book, only the main outline of the story. I assume that if anyone can help me, it'll be you guys.
So here it goes.

The story is about a strange family (they are all ginger, I think, a strange ginger family -although of course there is no direct link between ginger and strange, that's not what I mean) and there are two little girls, the twin daughters of the family. They have an older sister who ends up having a third ginger child, but they decide to keep the third ginger child hidden (to keep up appearances). Then one day, something happens to one of the twins and the third little girl takes her place (because they look very similar).
And the whole book is the story of that third child, who calls a young journalist to her house to write down her mémoires and ends up confessing the whole story.

I will be eternally grateful to anyone that helps me find this book ; I remember it being an absolutely amazing read. And please, reassure me -this does happe to other people, right ?

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments And sure, yes, this has happened to me...where I'm standing in front of my shelves frantically paging through texts trying to answer questions of this nature. I'm screwed, apparently, if the book was acquired from the library.

Emily (emilyabbott) | 12 comments No, my aunt left it behind (she can't remember what it was either).

Raaaahh damn you, library ! I wish I could access a list of all the books I've borrowed.

Janice (jamasc) Ginger people? I guess I'll find out when I read the book. It's sitting in the pile of books to be read.

:) I get the same problem quite frequently; it's probably the main reason I joined goodreads in the first place, so I could catalog everything I've read for future reference. My memory is terrible.

I love this place SO MUCH.

I'm so sorry. I gave away the whole thing. Hope it doesn't ruin the book for you..

Janice (jamasc) Nah! Now I'm even more curious. Besides, you're talking to the "sneak-a-peek" queen. I tend to peek ahead when I can't read fast enough to satisfy my curiosity.

Sarah | 13814 comments I assumed so too - no?

Emily (emilyabbott) | 12 comments No, they are ginger as in red-head. But I did give away quite a lot of the book.

Helena | 1056 comments I just read that book about two months ago. Your description didn’t ring a bell at all- guess I didn’t write a review of that one! And I liked it too...
