The main character in this book is trying to uncover a family secret (option D) and the book is set in North Carolina where I was born and raised and where a majority of my family still lives (option F). Great book, too! I really enjoyed it.

The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine

I read this book because I recently found out I'm pregnant for the first time and I feel like I need to read everything I can get my hands on to try to get over my vague sense of panic and fear (not that I'm not also really, really excited, of course!). This book wasn't the best pick, actually, but it was the first thing I could get at the library. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to work all my other pregnancy books into the challenge. Haha.

Isn't it great when we truly enjoy reading a book for this challenge that we would have never read without it? That is one of the main reasons I am on Goodreads and in this challenge.

I am so glad you finally found Nancy, she kept me very occupied as a pre-teen. I spent many a day, hiding in the corner behind the wing chair reading Nancy Drew Mysteries. I have introduced my 9 yr old granddaughter to them now.

And speaking of the Hardy Boys do you remember the tv series with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson?

20.4 Author, Author - Isabell's task: Focus on My Favorite Goodreads Author

I rolled a 3 - Read a book featuring a strong female heroine (if you choose this option please say how the heroine in the book is “strong” when you post the task) or a book written by a female author.

An Ice Cold Grave by Charlaine Harris

Charlaine Harris is a female author, and Harper Connelly is definitely a strong heroine. Not only does Harper help people find the dead bodies of their loved ones, she is always determined to get to the bottom of any fishy business, regardless of the physical/mental/emotion toll it takes on her.

I also loved Nancy Drew as a kid--never got into the Hardy Boys except on the TV show. I had a big poster of Shaun Cassidy in my room and his record (did he have more than one?) with Da Do Run Run on it. I cried so hard when it got left in the car and warped. I also remember that on the show every once in a while there would be a Nancy Drew episode. I really looked forward to those and thought it was completely unfair that she did not get a series in her own right. Have you read Confessions of a Teen Sleuth? It's a great parody of the Nancy Drew books (but I think only enjoyable if you read them a lot as a kid). It was a few chapters too long, but brought back a lot of memories.
