Beckie (bagg) | 1 comments I'd resisted reading a book by Jodi Picoult but once I read 'Nineteen Minutes," I was hooked and I'm working my way through every book she has written.

My first JP book was My Sister's Keeper. It was a book my English class was reading, and when we finished I was hooked! JP is the first author to make me passionate about a specific style of writing, and she is the author who has influenced me the most with my writing. Nineteen Minutes was a great second JP book to read, though!

Carrie (blondie515) | 1 comments My first book was "The Pact." Loved it! Have been trying to read the rest...I read "My Sisters Keeper" & "Change of Heart." Currently I am reading "Handle with Care"

Melanie, The Tenth Circle didn't do much for me either...but I have loved every other one that I have read.

Deana Young (lovestoread1956) | 11 comments I just finished "Mercy" which was okay -- it wasn't my favorite but it keep me reading. I am reading "Vanishing Acts" which is really good. I also am making my way through all of her books, just ordered "House Rules" and have read about 10-12 of her books and I am just hooked on JP.

message 109: by Ms. March (new)

Ms. March (msmarch) | 2 comments My first book was "My Sister's Keeper." I had a student who hated reading and one day she had this book. I couldn't get her to put it down and even pay attention to what was going on in class. I knew at that moment I had to try the book.

message 110: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (mistymtladi) | 36 comments I got hooked on Suzanne Coolin's Hunger Games eries this way!

message 111: by Ms. March (new)

Ms. March (msmarch) | 2 comments I was hesitant to read Hunger Games, but after all the teachers were talking about it and students were raving about it, I gave in. Loved the book as well.

message 112: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rennie My first book was The Pact. I was in high school when I read it and thought it was decent. I was recommended Perfect Match next and that's when I was hooked! After that was MSK...Then started reading Vanishing Acts...for some reason I can't get all that into it...read half and never picked it up again. I recently have purchased nearly all JP's books (thank you Amazon!) and have decided to read them in order written. Started Songs of the Humpback Whale...hopefully it's decent.

Anna | 2 comments The first book I read was The Pact, then I read My Sisters Keeper...definitly like her writing and can't wait to read more of her books

message 115: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Whytock Unfortunately, Mercy was my first JP book. I finished it and wasn't on the hunt for more of her books straight away. However, the second one i read was Nineteen Minutes, and was hooked since then.
I live in the UK so had to buy online the books which were not released here at the time. I've now read them all, and most of them now have been published here. Jodi will always be one of my favourite authors and i cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

message 116: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (unfinishedbookshelf) | 2 comments My first Jodi Picoult book was Picture Perfect, which got me hooked on her books for good!

message 117: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) My first book was Change of Heart and I could not put it down. I have since stocked up on so many of her books and can't wait to find the time to read them all!

message 118: by Diana (new)

Diana (deediana) | 1 comments My sister's keeper and it is really good.

message 119: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 1 comments As a member of a local book club, my first JP read was chosen for me...My Sister's Keeper. WOW! That's how I felt all the way through the book. And the book club discussion was intense. I have been a JP fan ever since but have not yet read all that she has to offer. I believe I have turned on at least a dozen or so others to her writing as well. I eagerly await each new book that comes our way!

message 120: by Dara S. (new)

Dara S. (dara85) | 6 comments I read Mercy first and really did not like it and vowed to never read another book by that author. I then read My Sister's Keeper for a book discussion and loved it.

message 122: by Ola (new)

Ola Watad My first book was My Sister's Keeper. It was the door of a whole JP wonderful world !! I love her books!

message 123: by Sofea (new)

Sofea (sofeaghani) | 11 comments Hey!

I've just entered my Jodi Picoult fever (and enjoying every minute of it!) The first JP book I read was My Sister's Keeper. Being a very 'enthusiastic' reader (as my grandma calls me), I soo had to try out My Sister's Keeper, after listening to all the hype of the movie and the book! I enjoyed it a lot, hence the start of my journey to even more of JP's books!

*overly dramatic* Haha.

Then, I read House Rules, which is a total piece of art! And currently, I am reading Handle With Care.

Which book should I grab on my next trip to the bookstore, I wonder?

xoxo
SOFEA

message 124: by Christie (new)

Christie (cereale) I started with My Sister's Keeper as did most people on this discussion board. Its one of my favorite ones but not my ultimate favorite. That would have to be 19 minutes, The Pact, or Change of Heart. It's hard to pick the best one.

message 125: by Micah (new)

Micah | 1 comments I can see I am like a year late in posting, but I looove Mercy! It was my first Jodi Picoult book (mom buys me random books) and I loved it! It's my favorite JP book that I read over and over.
My next book was MSK, then The Pact, then Songs of the Humpback WHale. Then I just sort of took a break from JP books because amid all the heartache and troubles.. so far all of her books has made me want to cry. JP is definitely a amazing author when the readers have strong reactions to her books. Despite the melancholy and tragedy filled novels, I love her. =)

message 126: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (cvgny1) | 1 comments Mine was My Sister's Keeper

message 127: by Dian (last edited Dec 21, 2010 01:29AM) (new)

Dian (heathermason) | 1 comments My first read of JP is Perfect match and than i tought it would be cool if it was made into a movie since the character was all very believable and strongly pictured. The storyline is also very good and would be an interesting film to be made. And the second was The tenth circle which was totally creative.

message 128: by Katie (new)

Katie (klauer) | 1 comments Ashley,
My first Jodie Picout book was "My Sisters Keeper as well". I could not put that book down and have to have more of books by her. It was my favorite book of hers until I read, "Handle with Care". I read that one in about three days and cried just as much as I did with "My Sister's Keeper".

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

Adding my two cents to an old forum topic, but I tried "The Pact" several years ago and couldn't get through it for some reason. But when "Nineteen Minutes" was reviewed in a USA Today article when we were staying at a hotel, I snatched it right up and have been a JP lover ever since.

message 130: by Carole (last edited Apr 02, 2011 09:44AM) (new)

Carole The first book I attempted was The Tenth Circle, which I promptly threw across the room about halfway through. It was less than three months after my husband's death and I was just too vulnerable to read a book like that and I was furious that a friend had recommended it to me. I'd been asking for a book recommendation because I was really having trouble concentrating through my grief. This book pulled me in right away, but when a certain event came up, it hit me where it hurt. I'm shocked my friend recommended this particular book to me so early on. It's been five years now and I'm ready to try again.

The first book I finished was My Sister's Keeper. Amazing book and I've read many others since!

Kari Jennifer (karijennifer) | 12 comments My first was Change of Heart.

Sarah Carole wrote: "The first book I attempted was The Tenth Circle, which I promptly threw across the room about halfway through. It was less than three months after my husband's death and I was just too vulnerable ..."

Carole,

We had a similar situation with " The Pact," my mom (not reading it,) lent it to my aunt who (less than 9 months prior) lost her son to suicide.
Hang in there!

message 133: by Sarah (new)

Sarah My first book was Vanishing Acts, and I've been hooked ever since!

message 134: by Paolai (new)

Paolai | 5 comments Ninteen Minutes :) loved it

message 135: by Isabel (new)

Isabel (isabelc) | 2 comments The first book I read was Nineteen Minutes, only because it had come out shortly before and there was a huge poster in my school library, but I don't like it nearly as much as some of the others.

But my favourites are The Pact, Mercy and Salem Falls, because these were some of the ones I read soon after, but if I read all of her books again (I've read all of them), I'm sure some new favourites would emerge.

One I really didn't like was Harvesting the Heart, since I thought it was all a bit superficial, and I would not have stood by while what happened to her, happened. House rules didn't seem to have the flow to it that the others have which make them so amazing. Despite this, the ones I still like I would read again, as all her books are soo good! :)

message 136: by Tracy (new)

Tracy My first was Nineteen Minutes.

Bridget | 9 comments My first book of hers that I read was Sing You Home. I fell in love with her style of writing. I since then have read several others and I also loved Nineteen Minutes. I wonder how I went so long without knowing about this amazing author. She is so talented. Can't wait for my Lone Wolf copy next month at her book signing!!

message 148: by Emmajayne (new)

Emmajayne My firs JP novel was 'Handle with Care' and still it's probably my favourite. There's something so fragile and beautiful about her writing style particularly in that novel that moves me Xxx
