Eliaures | 40 comments I've been pretty happy with most of the portrayals of the characters from the book, but this is not how I pictured Hodor in my minds eye at all. I always saw him as a huge man-child, with an open, friendly face and certainly no beard. Realistically he probably would have a beard, but I can't recall if his face was ever described. Other "things" were, but not his face.

Faiz | 80 comments lulz.

I agree as far as casting is concerned. I noticed him in the first episode so i was not surprised, but he is really not what i expected. While he's never described in too much detail, i expected him to be in his mid-20's.

Actually if Sam's actor was 5-10 years older he'd fit perfectly with what i thought Hodor would be.

Have we also noticed that he hasn't yet actually said "hodor?"

message 31: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 6376 comments Maybe he mumbled, "mdr".

Veronica Belmont (veronicabelmont) | 1713 comments Mod
Do you think because they need someone to actually explain to viewers that "hodor" is all Hodor can say? I bet it will come once it's him and Bran together full-time.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I was annoyed when he just walked into the room holding the saddle and didn't say "Hodor". I kept thinking, "say it....saaaaaay it. damn!"

Thirded.

message 36: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 6376 comments Maybe the producers thought there wouldn't be enough gravitas if Hodor talked, the same reason The Hulk never talks in live action movies.

Eh, but they made the guard in the Aerie kind of humorous - "Dwarf man still talking! No gold!".

Nokomis.FL (nokomisfl) | 316 comments I pictured Hodor much younger than the actor playing him.

Marklar. Marklar marklar marklar.

message 41: by Eliaures (new)

Eliaures | 40 comments Oh good grief, do they really think TV audiences are so stupid they wouldn't pick up on the fact that he could only say "Hodor" after a few times? Frankenstein's monster only says "Rrrann" or something, and we get it. I'm sure they will have a character explain it once Hodor becomes more prevalent.
