My 1st-gen Kindle is named Marius, after my favorite one of Anne Rice's blood-drinkers. I even have a red leather cover for him. It seemed to fit, since the character loves books and also is fascinated by technology. My new 3G Touch, with a brown leather cover, is Pandora, his eternal love. :)
Skandia wrote: "My brand new KT is simply My Precious. After LOTR off course."LOL...mine's Karen's Precious! I guess we both have a little Smeagol in us.
My husband named my Touch "Amalinde". I wanted something Elvish from Lord of the Rings & that's what he came up with. :-)
My K2 was named Flynn Carson, for the character in the movie The Librarian.
My KT is named Bibliophile.
My KT is named Bibliophile.
My K3 is Scarlet (She lives in a red Oberon cover)My Touch is Tommy (From The Who's Rock Opera "Tommy" "See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me" because he likes to be touched) FYI he also lives on a Oberon cover but this time it is amber in color
I call mine Kenny Kindle. A bit embarrassing but it just sort of evolved one day when I misplaced it. I was looking under lounge cushions calling "here, Kenny Kindle" and it just stuck...
Sheila wrote: "I've named mine Leilani. Means "heavenly" or "love for one to whom it is given"."Sheila: I love that! What a unique name your Kindle has! If only I could come up with something so cool!!
I gave my wife a Kindle for Christmas last year. She read half a book and said I could "borrow" her Kindle if I'd like. I now affectionately call this Kindle "My Wife's Kindle." A year later, I'm still borrowing it. The name has stuck.
My Kindle (and every kindle I've ever owned) is named Jerry after my grandpa. The Kindle was the last gift I ever got from him before he passed away, so now he lives on in my Kindle.
After seeing this thread earlier today and then thinking about it ever since, an name has finally chosen itself for my Fire. It popped into my head immediately after I asked my hubby what he thought I should name it. Ready?Imaginarium.
I'm not really sure where it came from. I'm sure I've heard the word before, but not sure why or from where.
I also name other favorite items.
Laptop = Purple Monster (since it's purple)
iPod = Nayana's SOUL (Nayana is my bellydance performing name and SOUL is part of my logo, tagline)
Oscar = my dance/fitness pole
Suckem Sam = our Dyson vacuum
Good call, Helen! I also thought it might be related to a movie title. The only thing I'd come up with close was "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium." A quick Google search reveals, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." As for the laptop, I really wanted one in a brilliant raspberry fuchsia, which is my signature color, but since they didn't have it I opted for my next favorite hue. :o)
I like bright colors and earlier this year picked out my next vehicle based on the color. Ford Escape in lime squeeze. Yep, that's the exact color name. Guess what I named him... Squirt. You know, like the baby turtle from Finding Nemo. :o)
Cute! I don't drive but if I did I would buy by colour too. I was commenting on the nive porsche I'd seen in a showroom window, a colleague said which one did you like, I replied the raspberry red one and his face just crumpled in dis-belief.
Helen - I completely understand. My car before Squirt was the Funshine Mobile which was a bright solar yellow. How did I end up with a yellow vehicle? I owned a Saturn which was a SmartBuy, similar to a lease, and I received an incentive in the mail to stop at the dealership and test out newer models. If I found something I liked, I could "trade up" with some really great deals. I had seen a few beautiful yellow Saturns so I headed to the dealership and advised that was what I wanted. Unfortunately, I was told I couldn't get the car I wanted as it was a limited time dealio and they didn't make them (or the paint apparently) anymore. I left the sales associate know I wasn't interested in getting another Saturn then since my heart was already set on yellow. He just shook his head and sort of chuckled.
I then went form dealership to dealership looking for a yellow car. Each time, a sales associate would come up and ask what I wanted. I let them know I was looking for a yellow vehicle. They always said they didn't have one but would be happy to help me select a different colored vehicle. And each time they seemed surprised when I said no thanks and left without test driving anything.
Finally, after about six months of searching, we passed a dealership and saw a Dodge Neon (you know, the cute little cars that used to be the "hello" commercials) in the bright yellow. I walked on the lot and told them to ring it up. My very practical husband (boyfriend at the time), encouraged me to test drive so I did. Truth be told, though, I had my mind made up and nothing was going to change it.
Same thing with Squirt. I knew before even driving it, it was destined to be mine.
And now that I've hijacked the thread, we can return to our regularly scheduled programming. :o)
My Kindle Fire is called Incendio - I've got a red 360 cover, a red skin and a black sleeve with red piping! My last Kindle I never named (sad) so I just changed it to My Trusty K2.
My Kindle family...
Aphrodite, the K3
Pear, the iPOD Touch
Andie, the Android
Ms. Kindiefantastico, the Kindle 4 PC

I named my Kindle, "Tardis," because it contains so much more than its handy exterior would imply and it transports me from the present to the past and the future.

Mine is named Aziraphale after the angel in Good Omens. He does fancy books, after all. ;P This is a great thread, by the way!
My Fire is called Oscar. My K1 never had a name except "My Library" or "Portable Library" or "My Baby" but not an official name. My bf named his Kindle Touch Kurt after his favorite author, Kurt Vonnegut. I have no clue what I will name my next Kindle. I am thinking about getting a new battery for my K1 since it still works. Maybe I should finally give it a real name... any ideas?
I recently changed mine to "Rocinante".
I'm fairly sure I've posted downstream on my others (K1 Bartleby, KDX Mr Atoz and K3 Alexander), but I'm not sure if I introduced anyone to my Fire ... Montag.

I have named all my electronic devices after the Beatles, so my Kindle is named Eleanor Rigby. My Droid is Lennon, and my iPod Touch is Dear Prudence. My oldest son named his Kindle Penny Lane, as he shares my love of the Beatles.

i named mine HENRY BEMIS after the twilight zone episode TIME ENOUGH AT LAST...great episode totally relatable...
For now she is named Sadie, however Hubby put up a big ol' fuss, because his sister used to have a cat named sadie, hence he tainted my name and now I need to find a new one :P
I named my Kindle Rowena because I was sorted into Ravenclaw when I took a Sorting Hat quiz. I really want to get a Fire for my bday and I'll name her Ramona...after Ramona Cleary of course!
I spent my childhood reading books of adventure. I spent the first years of my youth traveling the world, now that I have a Kindle I named it 'Passport'. It seemed appropriate.
I think I have FINALLY come up with a name for mine. My Kindle Keyboard (or K3) will be arriving today after my K1 became possessed this week (Amazon cust. service was wonderful in replacing it for a low cost!). ANYWAY, my grandson (almost 3 yrs old) calls me Mimi...so my K3 will be named, "Mimi's Quiet Time".
@Ginger, Amazon launch new models of Kindles and you bought a Kindle Keyboard? You are a hero, and I admire you! K3 rules! ;)

Beatriz wrote: "@Ginger, Amazon launch new models of Kindles and you bought a Kindle Keyboard? You are a hero, and I admire you! I didn't want the most inexpensive either. Yes, K3 rules!! I am loving it!!!!!! Yes, YOU and I are heroes together!!! :)
Have a great weekend & Happy Reading!
