This is the perfect series when you need that "laugh out loud" moment. If you decide to continue the series then I suggest you start with the first book One For The Money and read them in order. Altho, I have to admit, sometimes there is very little charactor development from one book to the next but you would get a better feel for the series with the earlier books.

Hope you decide to continue reading this one.

Welcome, Gretchen. I would recommend

The Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers and/or The Memoirs Of Cleopatra, both by Margaret George, if you like historical fiction.

message 27213: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Am currently reading (among other things) The Sandalwood Tree by Elle Newmark . I started out with a bit of skepticism since I am not necessarily a fan of books taking place in India. Was I wrong. This is really a great read with lots of history the way I like it. You know you are enjoying a book when you set a goal to read for just an hour and you look up and two hours have passed.

message 27217: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Thibeault (thebookreporter) | 76 comments Just finished reading the blockbuster 'Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking' by Susan Cain. The book explores the psychology of the introvert, and makes the case that introversion has plenty of benefits and advantages--despite the fact that our society has a deeply entrenched bias towards extroversion (which often makes introverts feel like second-class citizens--if not outright defective or diseased). I've written an executive-style summary of the book at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com

Cheers,
Aaron

Cassie (CassieWinters) I just recently finished The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, which quickly became my favorite read of the year. I am not sure why I didn't read it years ago since the copy I had is the same copy I have had all this time. I am now reading More Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin.

Michael (book_nerd1991) I just finished Faith by Jennifer Haigh , this book was so sloppy with consistency! It was sooooooo slow, I gave up in frustration. Another book that bites the dust:(, I really hope the next book is better.

I am about to begin Never Knowing by Chevy Stevens , I am a huge fan of her first novel, PLEASE don't be disappointing.

message 27233: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Finished five since my last post. Not all of them were on my original list of 35 although two were and one was on my "next up."

Finished Colorado Dawn Colorado Dawn (A Runaway Brides, #2) by Kaki Warner for a "runaway brides" challenge. Liked it. But if the Cheyenne language in it is actually Cheyenne, that must be one tough language to learn! This one was on my "35" list.

Finished What Happens in London What Happens in London (Bevelstoke #2) by Julia Quinn . Not on my 35 but I needed an audio book to listen to and it was around. Liked it, will be checking out more Julia Quinn.

Finished two Lee Childs. One on my "35" and one not-- Without Fail Without Fail (Jack Reacher, #6) by Lee Child and Nothing to Lose Nothing to Lose (Jack Reacher, #12) by Lee Child . Apparently these have put me back in the mood for Reacher because I'm now reading a third. And these have helped me knock two or three more states off my state challenge.

Finished Beautiful Days Beautiful Days (Bright Young Things, #2) by Anna Godbersen which is book two of the "Bright Young Things" series. This was my "read ahead into my next-up" book because after I read the first I wanted to see what came next. Then I realizes the third book isn't out yet-- DRAT!

Now reading Worth Dying For Worth Dying For (Jack Reacher, #15) by Lee Child (the third Lee Child) and The Ghost and the Dead Deb The Ghost and the Dead Deb (Haunted Bookshop Mystery, #2) by Alice Kimberly which is the second book in this series by the authors of the "coffeehouse" mysteries. Interesting twist happened in the part I read last night- curious to see where it's taken. About to start 11/22/63 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

I've got my ears on Lynne Tillman's No Lease on Life - the iambik audio is really good. Love the story, love the narrator!

message 27236: by tiasreads (new)

tiasreads I'm still working on Fall of Giants. It's really good, but I keep getting bogged down in all the politics, especially the Russian Revolution parts. I'm getting sick of Lenin's hypocrisy.

message 27237: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt and really enjoyed it. However, I think like Tana French's The Likeness (Dublin Murder Squad, #2) by Tana French better, which has a similar story.

Karen M | 1956 comments Up to four books now with the digital download for Dead to the World. I'm good with three books at once but four always make me feel guilty when I'm not reading, don't know why. Oh, I did finish Greenmantle or it would have been five books.

Rebecca Graf (rebeccagraf) Finished reading Sold on You, Mrs. Garcia's Class Visits the Hospital, and a graphic novel called Why Don't You Just Kill Her that was horrible.

Now starting The Syn-En Solution

message 27247: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Just finished Calico Joe by John Grisham and really loved. I am not necessarily a big fan of baseball, but the story is so engaging you just can't help but breeze through it. I love a book that moves between two eras in history and this one did it seemlessly. 4.5 on the scale for me.

message 27248: by Paula (last edited May 30, 2012 07:11AM) (new)

Paula I finished Janet Evanovich's Two for the Dough. I'm liking this series so far. So far, the books have been quick and I have found them humorous. I'm hoping I still like the series at the end or if I will be turned off by the it's the same old thing like I was with James Patterson.

I started Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James. I have mixed emotions about the series. Although not well written, I still feel some pull to complete the series. Maybe to see what all the hype is, how it ends or just to say been there, read that or finish what you start attitude. I have a love/ hate relationship with both Christian and Anastasia. Maybe I will feel different once I'm doing reading the series.

message 27249: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) I finished The Lantern, it started off good but went downhill after that.

I am about to begin The Poison Tree

message 27250: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine (saanichlori) I'm just about finished The Sisters Brothers and can't wait to be rid of this - I have to know how it ends but I can't say I enjoyed this read. This book has gotten so many 5 star reviews, but I found it disturbing and distasteful and will be glad to delete it from my e-reader.
