just finished Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos and am giving it five stars. As in her other book, Marisa De Loa Santos builds great characters that you cannot help but admire. Her writing style is fantastic. I really hope she continues to write novels and not just poetry. I am really looking forward to reading more from this author.
I'm reading the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls it's starting out good. I'm feeling for the Author, thought I had it ruff growing up moving around a lot! Not even close!
Have just started the Time Traveller's Wife. Very excited! Hoping to finish by Thursday so I can make it to the movies with my friend.

I love her writing too! It's not just cick lit It's well developed characters I can picture them perfectly in my mind so easily!
I also just finished The time Travelers wife! What a well written book! It starts out going back and forth in time then it just becomes normal. I feel like Henry and Claire are good friends of mine that I miss! LOL!
My favorite book of 09 is hands down The Help by Kathryn Stockett!! Just had to share that!
Liz wrote: "I just finished The Bell Jar and am working on Stardust and totally in love with it."Liz, how did you find Bell Jar? It's high on my to-read list.
Karla wrote: "I'm reading the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls it's starting out good. I'm feeling for the Author, thought I had it ruff growing up moving around a lot! Not even close!"I felt the same way. I thought I had it rough!!!
Liz wrote: "I just finished The Bell Jar and am working on Stardust and totally in love with it."The Bell Jar is def my Fave book ever!!
Sue wrote: "Although I'm not usually a myster reader, I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Stieg Larsson), and am getting ready to start in on The Girl Who Playe with Fire."I haven't read much mystery either, but recently read Tana French's In the Woods and am now starting another of hers--The Likeness. Some interesting psychological insight.

I agree! The Bell Jar is one of my all time favorites as well!
That's good to know as I'm picking that one up as soon as I finish Evermore by Alyson Noel. I'm hoping I finish it in a couple of hours since I'm anxious to read The Bell Jar.
Maria wrote: "i'm about 1/4 of the way in to The Skin Gods. it's not bad, but it's been awhile since i've read a police-style mystery, so it's a little hard to get sucked in to. good story though."I know what you mean Maria, I recently read The Alibi Man by Tami Haog. It was the first time I had read a police mystery for a while. I eventually got into it and also thought it was a good story.
Vicki wrote: "I also just started [Book: Maisie Dobbs], so far not bad."Vicki, I hope you really enjoy "Maisie Dobbs." I thought the book was hard to put down and full of history.
Hi Vicki and Brenda, The Maisie Dobbs series is one of my favorites. I really like how the character of Maisie develops over the series and all the small details of life in London at that time.
So I am at the halfway point of Shataram and 5 pages are nearly BLANK! Some words I am able to read but others are not.I am not a happy camper! This book is so good and to have a few pages almost impossible to read is just not fair! I am going to write to the publisher!!!!
Oh no Donna, that is horrible! I would definitely let the publisher know, and see if you can return the book to the place you bought it and get a new one....
I'm currently reading Retail Hell How I Sold My Soul to the Store Confessions of a Tortured Sales Associate... its great so far! My best friend got it for me at a book show and the author was there and signed it for me saying "Jamie--See you in hell!" haha. it's actually quite therapeutic to read about other retail hell experiences. It makes me laugh about my own!

Donna, that's so annoying. I had the same experience once when I was reading Lord of the Rings, and those blank pages was smack in the middle of a suspenseful scene! I so wanted to throw the book in anger, then!
Donna, that's so annoying. I had that happen years ago with a Teresa Edgerton novel I bought used. But since you bought your copy new I would think they should take it back even if it has been a long time -- this is a little different from a standard return! Is it otherwise a good book, btw?
Never in my many years of reading have I ever encountered a problem like Donna has. Definetly let the publisher know . You might get a free book out of them .
Karla wrote: "I'm reading the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls it's starting out good. I'm feeling for the Author, thought I had it ruff growing up moving around a lot! Not even close!"Karla,The Glass Castle is one of my most favorite memoirs. Jeannette Walls really deserves a medal for
sharing all those gut-wrenching stories from her childhood. It gives anyone in similar circumstances
hope and determination.
Jamborandi wrote: "I just started Olive Kitteredge by Elizabeth Strout."Jamborandi,
How far along are you? I'm starting to listen to the
unabridged audio version in my Audible.com library. It
comes highly recommended by the manager of an independent bookstore near me. Didn't it win the
Pulitzer for fiction this year? or was it the Nat'l Book Award? Getting senile can be so embarrassing.
It was the Pulitzer Prize that she won. I have literally just started. I am not even through with the first story yet.
Anna Maria wrote: "I just finished Waiter Rant by Steve Dublanica, and have begun The Ha-Ha by Dave King."
Anna Maria. I really liked the Ha Ha! The main character is such a lovable huggable kinda guy.

Thanks! I am now at the third part and I think it is getting much better. It is nice that every part gives you a little clue in how it is linked to the other parts. I think for now I would say I start to like it.

I am new to this site and this group. I just have to say this could be a bad thing because now my "to read" list is growing by the minute. That makes me want to neglect my regular life duties, and that is not a good thing. This thread is a fun one, though. I am going to have to spend more time in it later to review what you all have said about what you are reading.I am now reading Rebel Angels by Libba Bray. It's a fun, easy read. I work as a crossing guard, so this is a great book because I can read it while I'm waiting for kids to come.
I just finished Jinx by Jennifer Estep. It was entertaining. It's the 3rd of a series, but the 1st was definitely the best. It's about a world where there really are superheroes and ubervillians.
Donna wrote: "So I am at the halfway point of Shataram and 5 pages are nearly BLANK! Some words I am able to read but others are not.I am not a happy camper! This book is so good and to have a few pages alm..."
I LOVE Shantaram! One of my all-time faves. That is awful about your copy though.
I just started reading Freakonomics. Been wanting to read this for awhile.
Lisa, I absolutely agree that Karma Girl was Estep's best. I loved that one and was pretty disappointed in the sequels.
Lori wrote: "Hi Nikki, oh yea.... you will definitely add to your to read list!! Thats a given here :)"Tks. Anyone want to buy 3 kids and be my housekeeper so I can just read? But I guess I have to keep the jobs so I can buy books. My kids book orders are a dangerous thing for me. I tend to buy stuff I might like to read as well.
I've just finished Ghostwritten by David Mitchell, which I really enjoyed. Here's a Review. Now I'm reading another by David Mitchell - Black Swan Green A Novel.
