Paula, did you like Swimsuit? I keep picking it up but haven't convinced myself to buy it yet.

Sorry, it must be early b/c I meant to reply to Ann. :) Haven't had any coffee yet!
I just finished Afternoons with Emily, A wonderful story about a girls friendship with Emily Dickinson. I'm just started reading The Swallows of Kabul.
I started What-the-Dickens The Story of a Rogue Tooth FairybyGregory Maguire I really loved most of his books except for Lost, which didn't make any sense. So far What the Dickens is really good, I hope it keeps up.
Started The Unheard A Memoir of Deafness and Africa last night and am about 45 pages into it. It is the memoir of a deaf peace corp volunteer in Zambia who is trying to help the village dig wells. i have had this book on my shelf for about 3 years and had no desire to read it. (got it for free in 2006). I only picked it up to fulfill the 'Africa' task in the Summer reading challenge. Boy am I glad I did. I have only barely started and am already super excited about it. I'll let you know what I think, but I am already planning on recommending it to several of my friends.

"Gotta get on....." : )
I have two (sort of) books going at once, which is unusual for me. I had a couple of days of driving (visiting my parents) and was listening to Stephen KIng's "Lisey's Story". Good as a driving "read", but some things are irritating me which I never even register when I read his books on paper - he is very, unnecessarily, wordy, and there's a lot of idiosyncratic made-up words. Now that I'm here with free time, I'm about halfway through Cold Mountain. After a slow start, I'm really enjoying it. Beautifully written, and the structure of it is really pulling me in - can't wait to see how these characters come together.
Just finished The Girl With No Shadow by Joanne Harris. I really enjoyed this book! It was a wonderful story. I am now getting ready to start Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
Lori Ann wrote: "I finished The Devil in the White City today and I loved it. I enjoyed the parts about the fair more than those about Holmes. About to start The Red Tent now"
I've had The Devil and the White City sitting on my pile of books for a year now. I started it one time and really liked it, but got sidetracked before I got too far. I should pull it out again.
Kahliki - I read White Oleander when it first came out and liked it, but it wasn't a 5 star read to me. It is worth the time thought IMO.
I just finished Philippa Gregory's new one- Thw White Queen. I really liked it! I couldn't put it down and I haven't done that since I read her Other Boleyn Girl novel. Now I am going to crack open the new Amanda Grange novel- Mr. Darcy, Vampyre
I'm having two books going now. The Guardian and Icy Sparks. I might add Twenties Girl A Novel also to the list.

I am liking it so far. Only on page 150, but I think it is going to be good!
Edith wrote: "Paula wrote: "Ann from S.C. wrote: "I finished SWIMSUIT. Now I just started THE GRAVEDIGGERS DAUGHTER by Joyce Carol Oates."Ann, how did you like "Gravediggers Daughter"?
"SWIMSIUT was good, but a little gory. I got my copy from the library.
Sorry, it must..."
I just finished People of the Book (a little behind in the group reads) and I am stalled at page 285 in Atlas Shrugged. So I started Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson, I am only 20 pages in, but it already seems weird and good.
I'm currently reading Misery by Stephen King. I don't remember much of the movie (I don't even think I saw all of it), so not a lot of it is spoiled for me. It's pretty good so far.
I started The Glass Castle A Memoir over the weekend. So far, so good. Tonight, I started Lady Audley's Secret for my face-to-face book club. Too early to assess yet.
I'm reading The Dress Lodger. I'm not too sure what I think of it yet, but I do know that I'm glad I live now and not then!I'm trying to listen to What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. I've listened to the first part so far and enjoyed it. I've just never had much luck with audiobooks before, but I thought I'd give them another go as I get started trying to get out and get walking in the morning.
Just finished Frida: biography of Frida Kahlo. A very interesting life story, dont care for her artwork, it mostly strikes me as self therapy.
Am reading Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy now, understanding the old english style slows my reading down. I want to see what the hubbub was all about on this novel that he quit writing novels after that.
Pers, this is a great book. I really enjoyed it, as much as you can enjoy a sci fi novel about the end of the world :)
Just finished Fugitive by Phillip Margolin (3.5). It was pretty good, not great. Am listening to Sweeping Up Glass by Carolyn Wall. So far pretty good. Also started Time and Again by Jack Finney. This one looks quirky, but in a good way.
I received an advanced review copy of Drawn In Blood by Andrea Kane. She sucked me into her story right from the very beginning. This is the sequel to Twisted, though you can easily follow this one without having read the first. If you like suspense, I highly recommend her books.
Just finished Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann! I loved it! Couldn't put it down! Now I am starting 18 Best Stories by Edgar Allan Poe!
Freedom Just Around the Corner A New American History 1585-1828, by Walter McDougall - very interesting so far.
Just finished The House at Riverton which I really liked. I am going to start The Greengage Summer. Jennifer's comments a while back prompted me to move it to the top of my pile.
I still need to finish The Fellowship of The Ring but right now I'm distracted by IT by Stephen King
Rachel wrote: "I still need to finish The Fellowship of The Ring but right now I'm distracted by IT by Stephen King"The movie version of 'It' scared the hell out of me!

The movie used to really scare me too but the book has so much more in it that I find really terrifying
Finished Relentless by Dean Koontz and liked it well enough.Almost done with Living Dead in Dallas.I just love Sookie Stackhouse.
Cara wrote: "I am about to finish The Lace Makers of Glenmara."I won this from a GoodReads giveaway and it's toward the top of my TBR shelf. What did you think?
I am reading At Paradise Gate by Jane Smiley. I am loving it-a story of a family with an ailing father. Great story so far-I hope I am not disappointed at the end!
I have started re-reading The Time Traveler's Wife. I love this book. I really like my copy as well...the paper feels wonderful. I am going to see the movie after I finish the re-read. I hope the doesn't ruin the story.

I thought it was simple & predictable.
I finished reading The Independence of Miss Mary Bennet so now I'm on to The Thorn Birds, also by Colleen McCullough =)
