I've just finished Babyface A Story of Heart and Bones, couldn't put it down. So I'm back to a bit of light fiction, Lost Girls and Love Hotels A Novel by Catherine Hanrahan who is a Goodreads author.

Finished both Tortilla Flat and The Good Thief's Guide to Amsterdam this weekend. Vastly different books but I enjoyed them both. Now I am finally starting The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which has been on my TBR list for a long time.

Just finished up The Virgin Suicides and I'm not really sure if I liked it or not. It seems like the author really liked to throw in five dollar words here and there for no damn reason. Anyone know what the hell a zeugam is?
I think I'm going to try to finish up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It's not quite as entertaining as I'd hoped but maybe it will get better.

I'm working on John Adams at the moment. I'm on page 129 and have been reading it pretty steadily this evening, but I feel like I've barely started. Still, it's really good. I'm not the kind of person who has ever really been interested in biographies, but I'm definitely finding this one hard to put down.

Now I'm reading Emma Brown. This author finished up the novel Charlotte Bronte had started before her death. It's pretty good so far.

Teresa - I read it when it first came out. I really liked it, but I realize it's not for everyone (pretty gruesome in parts, don't you think?) I can't say that the ending was satisfying, but it couldn't end any other way without being too "mushy".

Just finished Kluge The Haphazard Construction of the Human Mind (4 stars). Found the content very interesting, not only as it applies to me but also, as a teacher, as it applies to my students (and why some of them just can't memorize their math facts or other useful information :-) I'm reminded of the importance that learning be contextual and am further inspired to keep plugging away at best teaching practices! Also just finished Last Night in Montreal and was very impressed with the fact that this was a debut novel...well written and engaging (also 4 stars). Now I'm reading Mudbound.

I'm not that far into it (60 pages or so), but it's interesting so far. I think it's going to get pretty weird and graphic. I think I know where it's going, but I might be surprised. Didn't realize she had another book - will see how I like this one and check Grotesque out.

Hi, I've just recently joined and thought i'd stick my two cents in! I've joined to try to expand my views on the big scary world of books because all I seem to pick is chick lit and as much as I love it, I honestly believe that all that lovey dovey romance is slowly turning my brain to mush! So i've reached a compromise to read one chick lit and then a "more challenging" novel and finding that I'm loving the other books just as much!

I've just started Reading Black Hills by good ol' Nora Roberts after finishing The Cider House Rules by John Irving. The pile beside my bed to be read also include Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.

I've just finished Scar Tissue the Anthony Keidis biography and have now moved onto The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisburger. I wasn't to keen on reading it seeing as though i have seen the movie already (I usually like to do it the other way round) but I thought seeing as though I really liked two of her other books I thought i'd give it ago.

Amanda, that is a great challenge for yourself! I was a fan of the chick lit novels back in my early twenties and realised that after awhile I was running out of new plots to read... I tired out. After finding this site, my tastes are all-encompassing (almost!)

Let me know how Lolita goes. I have it here, but havent read it, tho I am a big fan of Nabokov!!

Am about 80 pages into The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe and about 50 pages into The Little Book by Selden Edwards and both are really pretty good.

Tracy I feel the same way about March by Geraldine Brooks. I am enjoying it but for some reason it's taking me a long time to read.
