I am currently reading A Map of the World by Jane Hamilton. Rachel let me know how The Count of Monte Cristo is when you get through. I just love the movie and I have not read the book yet. I have been putting it off because it is a thick book.

I've heard so much about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'm going to have to get that. I bought Best Friends Forever the other day and got to see Jennifer Weiner - and hear her talk for an hour...she was hilarious. Got my book signed too :)

Katie, I just loved that book - isn't the narrator just perfect for it?! The whole series is good, and some are great, like this one.

Suzanne, I have not read any of Alice Hoffman's other books yet, but I started The Story Sisters and it was just plain strange! I gave it an honest shot, I read like 150 pgs but ultimately just gave up and and stopped. It was a really unusual book.

I just purchased Time Traveler's Wife as well and am about 200 pages into it. Good read!

Just finished Woman in White by Wilkie Collins - what a wonderfully-told story - definitely belongs on the "1001 Books to Read Before You Die" list.

Now to concentrate on The Yiddish Policemen's Union - the plot has begun to thicken, as they say.

Okay, I finished 'The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane' last night.
Really one of the most outstanding books that I have read in a long time.
I was very moved by parts of this book, and it dealt with subject matter that I never would have been inclined to purchase before.

I highly recommend this book to ALL of you. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say!!!

This is why I love this group...it makes you take chances with books you may never have picked!!!

It was pretty cool. I've never gone to a book signing before, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I must say Jennifer Weiner was great. She even took a minute to chat with me after I told her that my baby girl (due any day) will be named Addie, which is one of the main characters in Best Friends Forever. The name choice is totally coincidental, by the way. I didn't even know she had a new book coming out when we chose it.

Someone over the weekend was raving to me about this book as well. The title alone caught my attention at the bookstore weeks ago, but I think now I really should buy it or check to see if my library has it!

I totally agree, my husband did a stufy of modern American detective novel while working on his Ph.D and introduced me to reading James Lee Burke.I used to turn my head away from detective novels, but James Lee Burke is a living breathing American writer who is a Dostoevsky of American detective novel. I think of him as a living classic. When I read his books I savour every word.I am going to read "Rain Gods" in August.
