I am now reading Marked. I just finished with Breaking Dawn yesterday and I absolutely loved that series. So far Marked isn't that bad.

I just finished MAP OF BONES by James Rollins. If you liked THE DA VINCI CODE, you would like this one. A real page turner. I could see this as an action movie.

After years of effort, I have just finished reading Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. I really enjoyed this book. This immense work is difficult to describe; but I did write this Review.

Next, I'll return to Neal Stephenson; and read the last book of the Baroque Cycle--The System of the World.

I finished Mistress of the Art of Death and really, really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be picking up the next in the series.

I also did a quick read of What the Mouse Found. This is probably more for the author's fans, but it was a charming, whimsical little book of fairy tales.

Now I'm reading Trader (Newford Book 7). I know I read this 10+ years ago, but I don't remember a thing about it. I'm enjoying it though.

I had the same problem and someone in the group pointed me to the Oprah book club discussion of the book. Click on the "Your Quick Guide" link on that page and you'll get a bookmark to print with the characters' names and relationships. There are small spoilers on it though. It was worth it to me to keep everyone straight. The low point came when I realized that even Levin's cows have names!

I am reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and have to say that it is starting a little slow for me but I can see that it is starting to pick up a little. Thanks to those who posted on the no spoilers thread, because I'm not sure I would have kept reading had it not been for the encouragement there.

LDB: I listened to Good to Great and thought it was truly fascinating. It also made for great material for corporate initiatives for managers to read and discuss. We even found stuffed Hedgehogs to distribute.

Its the memoirs of a little Jewish girl growing up in quite a poor way in a small town in revolutionary Russia. My family (I remember my great grandparents) were Russian refugees, so I'm quite interested in it.

We are going to be reading Time Traveler's Wife for my bookclub here at home. Two of the people who have started it are having a hard time getting into it. I have not started it yet, but I keep hearing mixed reviews about it. You either love it or hate it!

Has anyone else read the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series? The series was edited by Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow and now is edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin Grant.

I'm reading the Tenth Annual Collection, from 1996. It's a great collection, as each that I've read has been. My favorite story so far has been The Phantom Church by Ana Blandiana. It's the story of a church in Transylvania that the citizens tried to get across a river to another town.

It's just a great story, a fantasy of the best kind.

I'm also reading Tales Before Narnia The Roots of Modern Fantasy and Science Fiction, but more slowly. I'm not sure what it is about this collection of stories. Most are pretty good, but the links between the stories and Lewis are strenuous at times.

I just finished "Invisible Monsters" and am now 100 pages into "The Bell Jar."

I must say that while it is very well written and i do like it, I don't love it. I find myself not getting to into it as I have other books but It's still a very good book, and I think I got it for free from Book mooch so it was def worth it. I have no idea what ill be reading next since i should have this done tomorrow..

The Eyre Affair is the weirdest darn thing... not at all what I was expecting. There's a vanishing rainbow-colored porsche, a pet dodo and the evil villain is stealing books and plots and characters... very strange!! Stephanie Plum goes to Hogwarts!! Can't figure out if I like it or not... will wait for the end.

Invisible Monsters was my first Chuck P book, way back when, and I was floored by his writing. Have you read Survivor? Its right up there for me alongside this one!

Right now I'm in the middle of The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. Wow. Really disturbing. Well written, but not an easy topic. Without getting into too much detail or spoiling anything,it's about mental illness.
The pivotal event occurs within the first chapter, much like The Lovely Bones.

I agree. IMHO, Invisible Monsters and Survivor are both Chuck's finest. :)

Now reading Dead Babies by Martin Amis. It was the 1001BYMRBYD Group Read but I missed the deadline due to library books needing attention so I'm only starting it now.

My friend read Survivor and loved it. I really want to read Lullaby but didn't get it yet, I have Haunted, and read Choke, I will read Haunted next since its a bunch of stories and if i dont like the one story i can just skim through it and onto the next, but he is definatly an interseting author! lol

Haunted is a novel, with the characters of that novel writing short stories. I dont think I would skip any of them as they are the backstories for each character.

Just finished The Broken Shore A Novel byPeter Temple and am starting Innocent Traitor A Novel of Lady Jane Grey by Alison Weir. I really enjoyed The Broken Shore. It was a fast read and a good cop book. Also fun to get a peak into Australian sights and speech.
