I have about 200 more pages of The Angel's Game. I am really enjoying this book, more than The Shadow of the Wind.

I hope to finish today, then it's on to a biography of Woodrow Wilson. It's an ILL, so I have to finish soon...no renewals.

I just finised (a couple hours ago) Fugitive:A Novel by Phillip Margolin. I enjoyed it, it was a little slow for me in the beginning but I am glad I stayed with it.

Now I am about 80 pages into Vision in White which is the first Nora Roberts book I have read. Not bad so far.

I am reading Three To Get Deadlyand am at a point that (probably for the first time to me)it is actually getting pretty serious in the story. I mean since when are there four dead bodies burried in a Plum story?

I am listening to Dead Run by P J Tracy. This is the 3rd book in the Monkeywrench series. Very enjoyable for a summer mystery read.

Wow, I never thought I'd finish these last two books: May Bird and the Ever After and A Long Way Down. Was visiting family, and just couldn't get into a reading (for the first) or listening (for the second) mindset.

But I've finally had a chance to start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Not too far yet, but seems interesting. And I'm also starting the first nonfiction I've read in a while: Engines of Creation. I'm listening to Anansi Boys as I potter around town. I usually love Neil Gaimen.

I just started reading The Night Watch. Only 15 pages in but I'm already having flashbacks to McEwan's Atonement which I read earlier this year. I'm also thinking of finding books that are set in WWII and feature British soldiers. (I'd love recommendations if anyone has any.)

Im over half way through Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and it's just amazing. I cant wait to read Peony in love, and I think the Joy Luck Club is by the same author also and i have that one too.

But to tide me over until then, I'm reading the new John Lescroart -"A Plague of Secrets".

Kristin, the Joy Luck Club is by Amy Tan. It is a wonderful book! I hope you will enjoy it. I have Snow Flower on my to read shelf and have heard good things about it. Can't wait to read it.!

I just finished The Angel's Game, and I could NOT put it down. I just adore Carlos Ruiz Zafon's writing, he is amazing. :) I read the book over the past 2 days, which is fast for me for a novel that size. I really enjoyed it a lot, but the ending left me a little confused. Overall though, it was a great read. :)

Now I'm going to pick up The Cellist of Sarajevo again.

Hi Claire and Kristin - Yes, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (by Lisa See) is a wonderful book; so much about the friendships between women! Let me recommend to you both Lisa See's newest book - Shanghai Girls. I have just started it and if you like Snow Flower, you will also love this book. Check it out!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society- Just started reading today, but looking forward to it.
I finished this book last week and it was just wonderful. I can't recommend it enough. This will transport you to another place and time and all the characters seemed so real. Just Amazing!

Now reading Native Son by Richard Wright. I have some objections but over halfway through I am 'enjoying' it as far as that word can be used with this kind of subjects.

Snow Flower & the Secret Fan was amazing. Try not to have the same high expectations for Peony in Love, or you might be disappointed. Joy Luck Club is by Amy Tan, and it's a fabulous book.

Just finished Brooklyn A Novel by Colm Toibin. For three-quarters of the book I loved it, then the plot just seemed to take a nose dive. It seemed that the author was as indecisive as the main character about what to do with her life.

Year of Wonders , and just recently found March at the 1/2 priced used book store. I think she's a fantastic writer, and her vocabulary always exercises my "gotta look up THAT one" fingers...

I just finished the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - which I absolutely loved and now anxiously awaiting when I can get my hands on The Girl Who Played With Fire. In the meantime, I just picked up Mister Pip by LLoyd Jones...only one chapter in and I'm already intrigued.

Kathryn - I am reading Shanghai Girls now. It is wonderful, albeit heartwrenching at times. What this family, particularly the sisters, has had to endure. Especially given their status at the start of the story. I am just about page 100. I love how Lisa See writes, transports you back to the time.

I read I'm Not Scared earlier in the year and really liked it. I liked the whole "coming of age with a creepy twist" angle the story had. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hi Nancy - I read the Story of Edgar Sawtelle and absolutey loved it. I think if you are a dog lover as I am, it might add a little something extra, but not sure about that. It is a real journey, a book to really get lost in. It really brought about a great deal of emotion in me when I was reading it. Have someone ready to discuss it with, because once you read it, I think you will want to talk about it in depth.

I agree, Jodi, I wasn't that crazy about Peony in Love. I am looking forward to Snow Flower though - have heard so many good things about it.

i finally finished The Quiet Girl:A Novel, and i was kind of disappointed in it. i'm going to try and get through more of John Adams tonight, and i'll probably start The 19th Wife tomorrow. i haven't gotten far on my reading lately, i need to pick up the pace!
