@James: That sounds lovely! Thanks James!@Krizia: I've always wanted to read that. I might join in. Depending on the reading schedule and the pace. :D

Maybe I'll start next week, June 20, Monday. Its a really long book. I haven't decided how fast yet. It will probably be 30 - 50 pages a day. This will probably be a very long read. hehe

That's why I'm gonna read this. My friend said the HBO series was really good. My tita also gave me the second book so might as well.
If you guys want to start at a later time its okay with me. So Monique is the only one who's sure to read with me?
Wow, I'm planning to join the reading buddy, I already started reading the book last night. It was interesting and I can't put it down, it reminds me of The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and my friends who borrowed me the book liked both books so I might like this book too. Good luck guys!

Talaga? Solid yung The Pillars of the Earth di ko rin mababa yung librong yon.

Yes, it wasn't as awesome as the first one.
POTE is better than WWE. But there are some scenes in WWE that are so brilliant I could not sleep thinking about them. They are like Noli and Fili. Noli is better than Fili but Fili has its moments.
I still have this thick book (Book 1 of a Trilogy) by Ken Follett. I bought it when it came out. Then di ko pa nabasa. Yesterday, nakita ko sa FB, may mass paperback na. Sana hinintay ko na lang.
Minsan kasi, ang tagal. Look at Ian McEwan's SOLAR. Hanggang ngayon wala pang mass paperback.
William, most of my friends said that too. Wish I can start reading the second one, I'm still looking for the right moment to read another thick book. Haha.
Kwesi The second one is still pretty awesome, just not as. I would also want to read a Dostoeyevsky or a Tolstoy but that's just too much commitment for me right now. Hehe
Krizia Anna wrote: "If you guys want to start at a later time its okay with me. So Monique is the only one who's sure to read with me?"Krizia, I am not yet sure. That's why I asked you when you were planning to read it. I still have Passage to India with Angus after our current buddy-read. If you want to read Thrones already, go ahead, I don't want to keep you. That was why I asked first when you were planning on reading it. :)
"Thrones" is a difficult book to group read. I remember we tried it some years ago and we just... Idk, it's one of those books where you just have to read it on your own pace and not be constrained with chapter per chapter discussions. Now, I'm not discouraging anybody. If you want to go with it, fine. I'm just sayin'...
K.D. wrote: "They are like Noli and Fili. Noli is better than Fili but Fili has its moments..."Hehe, idk I liked El Fili more. XD Pillars of the Earth... kahit 1000 pages siya, I'll gladly read it again and again.
Looks like I'll be reading by myself...hehe ;p Getting ready for it. It will probably take me ages. I read POTE for 2-3 weeks, Les Miserables also for 3 weeks. haha
I am thinking of reading any of the following after my ANNA KARENINA:1) The Man Who Loved Children by Christina Stead
2) French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles
3) The House of Mister Biswas by V. S. Naipaul
4) Naked Lunch by William Burroughs
5) On The Road by Ken Kerouac
6) The Sportswriter by Richard Ford
7) Call It Sleep by Richard Roth
8) Money by Martin Amis
9) Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow
10) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Anyone who wants to be my reading buddy? We will start on Monday, June 27. Set the speed and I will abide by it.
@Krizia: I would've loved to join you but I'm still caught up in Voyager and there's no telling how long this will take.
What's going on? No active reading buddy books?Next week, aside from the July books, I am planning to start reading:
1) At Swim Two Birds by Flann O'Brien
2) At Swim Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill
3) Madame Bovary or
4) The twin pack: Adventures of Tom Sawyer followed by Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Or kung meron dyang gustong sadistahin ang sarili:
5) 2666 by Roberto Bolano (sige na, pasakitan natin ang ating sarili!!!!)
Please let me know if you want to join in any of the 5 books. I miss reading with a buddy.
Kuya Doni, Kwesi and I will book buddy read When the Elephants Dance this coming July 4.So by July may active book buddies na. :)
Angus and I are reading A Passage to India on July 4. We just haven't been posting on this thread. :D
JZHUN:That's good. I also have that Elephant book. I just think that it is not too challenging to be read with a buddy. But it's me of course.
MONIQUE:
Hay, sayang. I read A Passage to India na. My next E. M. Foster will have to be Howard's End.
I have the pirated DVD of Passage, in case you are interested later.
Guys I saw a copy of When the Elephants Dance by Tess Uriza Holthe at Booksale MOA last Saturday so if anyone wants to join the reading buddy feel free to join us.
Atty. Monique: Can we reschedule on July 11? Ang dami kasing gagawin dito sa office next week. Nakakadistract talaga ang trabaho, hehe.KD: Yih! I want At Swim Two Birds! Bakit meron ka niyan? I also have 2666, pero I am not yet in the mood to read a giant brick, hehe.
Time 100 at 1001 ang "At Swim Two-Birds." It's been with me for almost a year now. I recently brought "At Swim Two-Boys" because it is a 1001 (2006) and it is about two boys swimming and when they grew up they fell in love with each other. I thought it would be fun to read about two birds and two boys simultaneously (if I have it my way) or one after the other (if you will join me as a buddy) ha ha.
Yes, Cary. Please tell me which book you want to read and if I have that in my tbr, let's read that book as buddies. What say you?
K.D. wrote: "Yes, Cary. Please tell me which book you want to read and if I have that in my tbr, let's read that book as buddies. What say you?"Actually I want to finish wuthering heights and dracula. I started reading those books two years ago but because of so many reasons I wasnt able to finish gang nagun. I really want to read classic books pero dahil I usually read to release stress, mas nauuna kong basahin yung mga light lang ang kwento.
I want to read Wuthering Heights since I was fresh from college. Let's read it together? If yes, when? I can adjust to your reading speed and I promise that I will be a very good reading buddy ha ha.
That's fine with me. Will you be the one to open the thread? Tell me your preferred reading speed :) I can read it in 2 days so I want you to set the speed so we can discuss everyday :)
Cary, you'll never regret having K.D. as book buddy. Minsan nga lang, nakaka overwhelm ang speed nya. :)Hm, parang gusto kong makisawsaw sa Wuthering Heights buddy read ah. :)
Lynai: But I want to slow down when I am reading a classic. Na-misinterpret ko lang si Regine sa Anna Karenina. Akala ko 1 part/day. Yon pala, 1 chapter/day so mga 2 months nya yatang babasahin ha ha.Sige, sali ka! Wuthering Heights is a lovely lovely love story and it will be nice to have ladies and gents as reading buddies para male and female perspectives.
Cge, when do we start? I hope I won't be a disappointment again as a Reading Buddy. :) I saw the movie in HBO and it was very interesting.
@K.D. wow. two days? it took me ages dun sa first 3 chapters pa lang hehe. Can we do 3 chapters a day muna, then let's see if I can speed up sa mga susunod na araw hehe..siguro kaw na lang po magopen ng thread@Lynai, nakakoverwhelm nga ang speed ni K.D... sure sali ka na din para mas masaya..
Let's start on Monday, July 11.If you will attend in our meet up on July 23, we can also talk about this.
I thought I saw an old old movie (black and white) Lawrence Olivier (tama ba?) several years ago. Medyo corny. But did you know that Carlito Siguion-Reyna's Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit is a local adaptation of this? The one where Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta became an item? Showbiz! ha ha. Mahalata ang edad ko ha ha.
The movie I saw was colored na, hehe. :) I am not familiar with the artists who played the role, pero it's a recent adaptation because of the soundtrack used and the setting. And I haven't seen Hihintayin yet. :)Okay, Monday then. I'm more interested in reading Wuthering than The Picture of Dorian Gray. Hehe...
