KD: First page pa lang ng Atlas Shrugged nakakawalang gana na. Binasa ko rin yung The Art of Fiction niya. Insightful, pero sana hindi na niya ininclude yung works niya sa samples. Para tuloy dinedefend niya yung mga iyon, na kahit idefend pa niya boring pa rin, hehe.

Tapos sabi pa niya write only what is necessary. So necessary lahat ng pages na iyon? Na parang fine print na ang font size?

KD we still need to read Anna Karenina. And I agree with Angus, we should be focusing more on reactions and discussions rather than summarizing the book.

Yes. It's just that sometimes the 2 actually become one. It is hard to express your thoughts without telling a bit of the summary.

When is Anna Karenina? That's what I have not been reading for a long time now: Russian literature.

I love East of Eden. It's my favourite Steinbeck book. As for the Brontes, you know that I just loved Jane Eyre. Wuthering Heights was beautifully written, but the story just wasn't for me. I absolutely hated everyone in the book!

I'm not sure whether or not the 6th book is good. It has been praised for it's plot twists and is said to be a dark & delightful noir novel. I (not having read anything noir) was intrigued. Plus it was cheap. xD

KRYSS: Create ka na ng thread. We can read WS books one after the other. I have No-Fear copies of Merchant of Venice, Othello, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. I also want to read (again) his Sonnets.

In fact, I have this Illustrated Complete Works of William Shakespeare so kahit anong gusto ninyo meron ako. But it is nice to have a No-Fear individual books. Easier to read.

@Kuya Doni: If ever you decide to read Othello, I might be able to pop in the conversations here and there. It's probably the most tragic of Shakespeare's works, considering that Iago is one of his most menacing characters.

Krizia, I just finished A Game of Thrones. Way awesome. Watch the tv series as well because it's pretty faithful and will help you visualize the NUMEROUS characters and places.

Good to know, James. Last year, we were thinking of having poetry reading (Shakespeare sonnets) during Meet Up 2. It did not materialize since no one would want to lead. Maybe next month?
