Butterbescotch wrote: "I'm now reading Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Anyone interested?"Hi, Butterbe. If you could wait until I'm finished buddying with Regine for The Graveyard Book, I'd be glad to join you or The Book Thief.
Butterbescotch wrote: "Oh okay I can wait. Mga anung araw kaya kau matatapos?"Baka sa 26 pa kami matatapos. Feel free to look for other buddies if that's too far off. :)
Butterbescoth: I am interested to read "The Book Thief" too. Tagal na. Let me know when it will start. I can start anytime!
Butterbescotch wrote: "Aldrin said it will be on 26. But if you are sabik na sabik na, basahin na natin?"You go ahead. I don't mind. :)
I might be asking too early for this, but would anyone like to read a Dostoyevsky novel with me in July? I have
The Brothers Karamazov
and
The Idiot
, both translated by Constance Garnett. Or I might also read
East of Eden
by John Steinbeck.
Yes, I can be sabik if I want to be sabik. Bea, I am up for THE IDIOT. Please tell me when.
I am putting the other two books in the back burner, though I have copies of those because they are non-1001.
How about DON QUIXOTE? It has been voted in The Guardian as the MOST MEANINGFUL BOOK OF ALL TIMES.
Beatrice wrote: "I might be asking too early for this, but would anyone like to read a Dostoyevsky novel with me in July? I have The Brothers Karamazov and The Idiot, both translated by Con..."Beatrice, you're 15. I am so impressed with your book choice.
KD I can do Don Quixote. AND I ACTUALLY KNOW WHERE MY COPY OF THE BOOKS IS.
Is anyone interested in reading Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander with me? I have a friend who swears by this series and I've tried to get into it twice but the language has been a bit difficult to grasp. A buddy would probably be a good idea. And I know this group has read Emma already, but is anyone else willing to read it in the next month or so?
@Kuya Doni: Would July 1 be too late for you? I would love to read it with you but Dostoyevsky needs commitment and I don't have enough time for it until summer arrives.@Ate Regine: Thank you! I actually have a friend who reads more impressive books than me. :)
Kuya Doni, Aldrin, Angus & Dr. Ranee ~ I'm going to "eavesdrop" on your Cloud Atlas discussion, ha. I want to join the buddy read but I might not be able to keep up. I already have a copy of the book (downloaded it when Aldrin said it was the "Inception" of books, haha). Saling ketket lang muna ako until I have more time on my hands to participate fully in buddy read discussions again. ;)

First of may, maybe?

When I was 15 I mostly read Harry Potter and Stephen King.
But, I still love Harry Potter.

Hope you could join us soon.
Hi, Kristel. Just got a copy of this book from our elephant book swap two Sundays ago. First of may, maybe?Aldrin, if you're referring to our book swap last April 10, I think the book you stole from me was Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita. :)
Yes, pretty much intrigued because I loved Inception. :)
Ahhhhhh read The Master and Margarita. It's one of my new favourites. Monique have you read it yet? It's excellent!
Regine wrote: "Ahhhhhh read The Master and Margarita. It's one of my new favourites. Monique have you read it yet? It's excellent!"
I wanted to read it because of your review, Regine, and I almost had a copy when Aldrin stole it from me. Tsk. *shakes head*
Monique, let's read Master and Margarita together! When?Regine, let's start DON QUIXOTE after you're done with DANGEROUS LIAISONS. Diane, get a copy now. NBS should have it.
Bea, The Idiot on July 1st is fine with me. Please remind your kuya ha?
Butterbescotch: Any decision on when are we going to read "The Book Thief"
Reminder: Hemingway will start on May 1st! *excited*
Monique, let's read Master and Margarita together! When? Hmm. Let's see. I have Kafka with Tintin tentatively set on the last week of April. I'm hoping I could catch some of your Cloud Atlas discussion, though I've only started on my own reading of Norwegian Wood. Let's try Bulgakov middle of May, if that's okay with you? Do you have a copy already? :)
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Wow KD, you are a busy reader with books waiting to be read!"Haha, look who's talking, Baker King. :P How many books have you read this week? I'm sure you have the titles all lined up, what with school being out for the summer. :D
Haha, Monique, I'm busy playing online games and I miss my high school friends so I have to visit them again.
MONIQUE: Yes, I have a copy of that for 2 years now!KWESI: Of course, I have 1,400 books in my tbr. I have all those (except 11 books that I am hunting for)
MONIQUE: Yes, Kwesi and I are trying to meet our target of 200-250 books this year. Gusto naming lumevel kay Nicholas Sparks who reads 200 books a year.
KWESI: I will be buying Blu Rays tomorrow for my annual Holy Week viewing pleasures haha. Any suggestions?
Nga pala, I got Sadako and the Paper Cranes yesterday for only P25! I am still looking for the Twenty-One Balloons!
Anybody up to reading The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides with me? I'm finished Speak earlier than the date Rollie and I set for our buddy read so I think I can squeeze in another buddy read before the month ends.
Chiming in with my great love for Master and Margarita. A definite recommendation.Aldrin, 1st of May is perfect. I'm hoping to knock out reading two books in the Holy Week to make me a bit comfortable in my 50 book challenge and then I'll be ready to tackle Patrick O'Brian.
Bea: I'm up for The Brothers, maybe after you are done with The Idiot.Monique: Yes! But it might be filled with a lot of spoilers. Especially me, I just rant on and on without much consideration.
Lynai: I love that movie! I don't have a copy of the book though.
KD: I have a feeling that I'll be checking your TBR list after this post.
KD! I love your library! You have most of my books (I haven't listed all my books yet) and you also have the books that I am looking for. @_@
ANGUS: You better be friendly with me. I normally give away the books that I've read during meet ups ha ha.
K.D. I can start anytime. I'm done with Speak together with Rollie. Actually, we finished far ahead of the schedule we set. So I guess, this buddy read thing helped me a lot in my reading speed. :)
LYNAI: The rule is to give 3 days after posting. So we can only start on Easter Sunday for Virgin Suicides. I will create a thread now.
I'm off topic but I want to shout this out loud from what I read from the threads. Grabe, guys you are all very dedicated in reading those books. I never read such detailed summary and consider the comparison between books and thoughtful comments, ya, I'm stalking some thread lately because I can't sleep. Now, I know who are those people who really have magnum hearts for books. Creepy. o.O
I guess on how eager are you in reading books? I dunno ha ha.Anyways, got to go. Seven last words na :]
