I'd like to join too, but I don't have a copy yet. Hopefully by May? Hehe, that is if you can still contain the excitement.

My copy also has BNW Revisited, but I'm a sucker for good (often minimalist) book cover design, so... :)

costs P300+ at Fully Booked. I think May's a good time to do it. Ranee?
My copy does not have BNW Revisited, so maybe I'll just drop out if you carry on with the sequel? Haha. I agree, the book cover is nice and a little foreboding.I was going to buy CA yesterday had there been a copy at NBS Mega. There was one before. Apparently, somebody else bought it.
May then. Aldrin, let's wait till Angus gets a copy para masaya. It's going to be my first David Mitchell and I'm getting excited already.
Ranee wrote: "May then. Aldrin, let's wait till Angus gets a copy para masaya. It's going to be my first David Mitchell and I'm getting excited already."All right! Have you read Italo Calvino's
, the book that inspired Mitchell to write CA? It's one of my all-time favorites. If you'd like to read it before we dive into CA, I'd gladly re-read along with you.
no, i haven't read that Aldrin. I don't have a copy of that book too and honestly, my first time to hear about the author. Where can I find a copy of it?
Ranee wrote: "no, i haven't read that Aldrin. I don't have a copy of that book too and honestly, my first time to hear about the author. Where can I find a copy of it?"I once saw a copy in that small used bookstore in UP. There are also copies in some branches of FB and NBS. I hope you get a copy soon.

Ok Aldrin, will hunt for it!

Yes, it is. :) And not to worry about BNW Revisited. It's just an essay Huxley wrote about how fast the world has turned into something like his novel. I don't think missing out on Revisited would make your experience any less wonderful. :)
I have a copy of BNWR, sadly haven't found a copy of BNW. :(I'm also raring to join the CA book buddies.
Monique wrote: "ALDRIN & ANGUS, When are you reading Grapes of Wrath? Pasali!! :)"Atty, we're planning to have it in May or June. Which month do you prefer?

The lovely Olive edition of BNW (+BNWR) costs "only" P315. Bili ka na!
Looking forward to reading CA along with you, not for bromantic reasons, okay? LOL :)
Aldrin wrote: "Looking forward to reading CA along with you, not for bromantic reasons, okay? LOL :)"Nyahahaha! :D
Aldrin wrote: we're planning to have it in May or June. Which month do you prefer?"Sige, sa May. Pa-remind lang ulit ha. Nagiging rusty na ang memory ko eh. :D
Reading The Grapes of Wrath with buddies is a good idea! I wish to read Anna Karenina with reading buddies too but it should be sometime in June after Canterbury Tales.

Maybe mid May, after Cloud Atlas? I scanned the book, maybe we could do 3 chapters a day. It has 30 chapters, so we could finish it in 10 days. What do you think? :)
Beatrice wrote: "Yes, it is. :) And not to worry about BNW Revisited. It's just an essay Huxley wrote about how fast the world has turned into something like his novel. K.D. wrote: "ANGUS: Sige, let's start Cloud Atlas after Brave New World.RANEE: Will you be with us?"
I think there will be five of us for Cloud Atlas. Me, You, Aldrin, Ranee, and Jason (?). Sana may 6th person para masaya, kasi I think six narratives yun.
K.D. wrote: "ANGUS: Sige, let's start Cloud Atlas after Brave New World.RANEE: Will you be with us?"
Definitely yes! kayo na bahala sa pagset ng rules, just notify me when we will be starting.

What do you think? :)Let me get a copy first, then check the length per chapter. I don't want to lag behind but I don't have the luxury of spending too much time on books, especially if it will get in the way of my mommy duties. I'll get back to you. Anyway, May pa naman. ;)

I have Anna Karenina and would gladly be your reading buddy.
Angus wrote: "I'm planning to read
after two weeks. It's going to be my third attempt. Maybe I can finally finish it if I read with someone. Anyone interested? :)"It's on my list too. But I'm currently reading 33 A.D. Have you started already?
This is an interesting article from the Guardian since you guys are doing a BNW book buddy reading..Brave New World among top 10 books Americans most want banned via Guardian

Not yet. I decided to push it back since I'll be joining other guys with other books. Would you like to read together? :)
I don't have a copy of Capricorn. The copies that I see are priced ridiculously, hehe. Out of budget.
DIANE: If you are still interested, I am up for it after Cloud Atlas. I will tell you when but it should be after 2 weeks or so. Hope you can still wait. Cloud is already announced.
@Butterbescotch: I'm planning to read Room too but I have other books to read first. When are you planning to read it? :)
@Tintin I'm reading it now but take your time. We can discuss the book after you have read it. ^____^
KD maybe we should do Anna Karenina before The Canterbury Tales. I can't find my copy of Canterbury.Aldrin and I are also doing a read of The Graveyard Book. Any takers?
Sounds good! I'm sorry, I know you had your heart set on The Canterbury Tales. And ughh... Right now i feel like I would rather have my eyes gouged out than read another one of Valmont's or Danceny's love letters
HA HA HAI am laughing out loud really.
Why? I still love it. I am enjoying how they express themselves. Paris especially of long time ago always fascinates me.I've been there in 2004 and if I am only given one place to visit again before I die, I will choose that place. So romantic and also full of history.
I love Paris. I love it's history, I love the Louvre, I love it's language, etc. It's on my bucket list of places to visit. I feel like right now, I would just rather watch "Cruel Intentions" as it has the same plot as Dangerous Liaisons without all of these ridiculous letters:

Well, one of the objectives of the Reading Buddies is to motivate each other to continue reading and finish what they started. Ha ha. I hope you are not giving up.Oh, well, I have been looking for a copy of that movie and I have been telling the salesclerk to get me a copy of the movie Dangerous Liaisons. It did not occur to me that, instead, the title is Cruel Intentions ha ha. Ryan Philippe - is Valmont? Ha ha. Nice.
I'm not giving up. I never give up. lol. There is actually a movie of Dangerous Liaisons. It stars John Malkovich, Glen Close, Michelle Pfieffer, and Uma Thurman.Stellar cast, but I don't like John Malkovich in period pieces. What is it we Filipinos say? Hindi bagay?
Cruel Intentions is the teeny-bopper version of Dangerous Liasons. It's cheesy, but at least it's entertaining. Unlike this book. lol.
I'll post my notes on the book tomorrow.
That's right. Hindi bagay kasi kalbo si Malkovich. But he is a good actor. Piercing expressive eyes and mouth. That's good. Let's keep on going.
Krizia, I would like to experience reading a book with you but I have lots of lined up ones already. Sayang.

Aldrin and I checked that out yesterday at NBS. It's black, right?
