Come and read with us. :)
Just this morning, I itched for a Pynchon book and I read the first few pages of his
AGAINST THE DAY
by Thomas Pynchon (yes, the recluse author)
I liked the first few pages!
Anybody who wants to read with me? I can stop and delay for 3-7 days for you.
Hindi sya halos nagpapakita. There are just 2 published pictures of him. He has not been granting interviews too. Parang Bob Ong although totoong tao sya.
Halloa!The game's afoot!
I and my good companion Dr. John H. Watson, err, JL Tors (The Man on the Tor) are up and about to read The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel by Anthony Horowitz, a book no less given the approval of the Conan Doyle estate, in the possible future.
And so dear members, if you're up for a trip down 1985 Victorian London (swirling fog; bustling thoroughfares filled with hansom, carriages and all) into the comfortable quarters of 221b Baker Street then look no further my lads, you're in for a thrilling ride!
I'm announcing this Reading Buddies scheme in advance to give intending Buddies ample room to discover, read, and catch up with the Canon or the original 56 short stories and 4 novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the Great Detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson. Nonetheless, even those who haven't read the Canon (nor have the penchant to do so) are much welcome to join us. The said setup will also enable those (like me) who haven't purchased their copy yet of the book (or for those to search and download it if they are to use the

Jzhun, how about those who read partials?Like me, I read the first 2 novels and currently reading "Adventures" (last few stories na)?

Well, it's not really compulsory to read the whole Canon. However, for discussion purposes, and as Horowitz's book is a pastiche, comparisons between both books are inevitable.
I even said that even if one is not interested to read the Canon he or she is also welcome in the Reading Buddies. :)
LS and I will buddy read Liesl and Po and The Monstrumologist on May 28th.Short YA reads for next week. Anyone who's up for it is welcome. :)
Maria: will eavesdrop lang for The Monstrumologist. :) I'd join you din sana for Liesl and Po, pero I have too many buddy reads na. Haha. :D Enjoy, though!
I will eavesdrop for The Monstrumologist. I love this book! I don't think its a short/easy read, though. Enjoy reading! :)
Aaron Vincent wrote: "I don't think its a short/easy read, though. Enjoy reading! :)"THIS. Hahaha. But I found The Curse of the Wendigo harder to read, actually. And scarier. :D
Hey, I'll eavesdrop The Monstrumologist din! Haha@tina: oha, Curse of the Wendigo is scarier? Haha nah, not a good idea to read during my night shift hahaha
LS wrote: "Or do we read one first before the other, combined thread lang?"Yes. :) Liesl and Po muna, then Monstrumologist na. 1 thread na lang, para tipid sa thread na i-oopen. haha!

"wanna join in here but i don't have a copy of liesl and po. I have a kindle, can please somebody share a copy hehe..if that's ok
I want to read these books starting next week:
THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER
and followed right after by:
THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN
both by Mark Twain
Classic Southern American Lit!!!
Anyone?

YAY to these books! These are all-time favorites. I would love to do a re-read too kaso lang I'm currently reading A Clash of Kings which is a pretty thick book. Enjoy re-reading, K.D.!
I'm about to read Villette by Charlotte Brontë. It's in my currently-reading actually, but I haven't started, and I think I have to delay my reading since I have other things to do.
I wonder if anyone would be interested to buddy read it with me. I don't usually do buddy reads, but since this is a Brontë I think it would be interesting to try reading along with someone else.
Anyone's up for this? :D (I'm thinking of reading this by next week, ako na excited.)
NYKen, please let me know when you are ready for "Tom Sawyer." I can wait for you. My brother said that I should read "Tom Saywer" first before "Huckleberry Finn." Have you read "Finn"?AennA: I'd like to read "Vilette" with you. My foreigner friend says that this is the only other (aside from Jane Eyre) Charlotte Bronte book that she enjoys. Good pick! But when are you planning to read it? Just this morning, I made kalkal na mga stacks of books because I was looking for "The Executioner's Song" (buddy read scheduled soon). So, di pa ako makakakalkal ulit. Mga end of June? Can you wait pa ba?
K.D. I intend to read it na sana next week. Excited lang. But if you're willing to buddy read it with me, I think I can make it wait naman.Sige, let's have it in June. Advise me na lang, and don't forget ha. :D
Let's see.
O sige. The book pala is with my kuya so I texted him already to lend it to me. Hopefully next week.My scheduled buddy reads:
Monday, June 4: The Executioner's Song
Monday, June 11: The Glass Castle
So, I guess we can do this on"
Monday, June 25???
Hindi hectic yan. Meron pa akong ibang books on the sides hak hak.
Huck Finn is my second high school book report, at ayaw ko na itong balikan uli, hahaha.
Mabagal kasi akong magbasa kaya feeling ko waste of time ang rereading. A lot of books deserve to be read, so yung time na ilalaan ko for rereading ay gagamitin ko na lang for discovering new works.Pwede pa siguro ang rereading through audiobooks.
:) Pakipalitan ng "middle age" :)Hindi ba waste of time (listening) din yan?
Well, nakikinig lang naman ako while doing household chores.
NYKen: No one has agreed to read Tom Sawyer with me except you so I think I better wait. Let me know when you are available. For the meantime, I will read other books. Anyway, I have The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer next week. Thanks.
o mr. KD., This Tom Sawyer, i started listening to it 3 days ago. This is my first audiobook. I'm still on the 6th chapter, i kept on rewinding it, sometimes i can't understand what the narrator is saying that's why hehe..But its a funny story and interesting.
View-halloa!I'm looking for book buddies for J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion this coming June 11, 2012. As we are going to discuss the first book in The Lord of the Rings trilogy this will be a complimentary reading to immerse those who have already read the books in the trilogy to Tolkien's mythology.
Thank you very much!
My warm regards and happy reading! ^_^
