I'm sure many of you have read The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. I've started a couple of chapters but never got to finishing it. I am hoping to find a reading buddy who could help me out by reading this book with me. I plan to start on Feb 1. Thanks.

Hi, K.D. That's great! I was not really expecting anybody to be interested to read a book as classic/old as the Canterbury. I'm glad you are. So how do we go about this? This is my first time to have a reading buddy. :-DAccording to the mechanics, we set the reading pace. I'm using the new modern English prose translation by R.M. Lumiansky. This book has 23 chapters, excluding the General Prologue and Chaucer's Retraction. What version will you be reading?
And what reading schedule would you propose?
Nance: I do not have the book right now but I am using the latest version. I bought that copy at NBS Clark (there was a 20% off) last year. I checked the editions here at GR and it is not even there yet or maybe nobody cared to put it.I suggest 1 chapter a day. You can create the thread following the format for the header of the existing ones. You should follow the format for standardization's sake. Sorry, my being OP harhar.
Any version would do really. I guess the gist of the story would be the same. :)
It will just be the two of us. Unless somebody says he or she is interested. Oh I'm so excited. Finally. Finally.
Hi again, K.D. I'm cool with one chapter a day. I already created the thread, following the format. I made the thread this early, just in case someone else might be interested to join. Is that okay? I'm excited, too. And yes, finally. Same sentiments. :-)
Hi, are you single or double (love is like cloning!), waiting or riding (love is like riding a vehicle!), busted or winner (love is like a game!), conservative or sex addict (love is like a sizzling plate!)? Can't decide? Join now!I'm planning to read I Kissed Dating Goodbye written by Joshua Harris tomorrow and everyone is welcome to join! Just dial the following number tut-tut-tut-i-tut. Bastos!

To read? I put it on my wish-list. I wanted to own a copy of that book if you still want to read it with me, I think we have to plan it next month na lang if you want. Hehe.
@Lynai: I had this feeling that I might not like it. Haha. When I was in high school, my friends read most of Joshua Harris's books and they keep on talking about love which I don't have any interest at first place. Haha.
Hi! I'm planning to read Bob Ong's new book, Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin, with other friends. Anyone interested? The discussion thread will opened this coming Monday, February 13.
K.D. wrote: "Kwesi: I loved that book! Congratulations for choosing it! Good luck! Hopya layk eet! :)"sige na nga bibili na din ako ng copy..
Interesting site on "How to Read Infinite Jest" http://infinitesummer.org/archives/215From the tips listed on that blog, parang ang saya nya basahin eh. hehehe.
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Hi! I'm planning to read Bob Ong's new book, Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin, with other friends. Anyone interested? The discussion thread will opened this coming Monday, Feb..."count me in. para matapos ko na ang siraulong librong yan. LOL
Maria: Craulo harhar.
Possessive yon eh.
Haha I doubt it. I don't think he plans to read that anytime soon.Oh well..just thought I'd check even though I had a feeling that there wouldn't be any takers. :P
HOY! At saka yung Les Miserables at Pride and Prejudice na binigay ni H for me, I decided to give it to the kids instead. Baka may classics-lover sa kanila.
No I don't think I will be reading that in April, kasi I think I will be reading Ulysses in April (gulp!).Anyway, I was planning for some time during the year, after April if I survive Ulysses, but before the world ends in December :D
Audiobook?? That would be interesting to see..hear...
Ayan oh, why not do it with LS? Or pagsabayin mo ang Ulysses at Infinite Jest. And if you have to choose, I don't mind if you go with the latter. Parang matagal mo na gustong basahin iyan eh. And I don't think anyone reads Ulysses for fun, haha.
I'll read Ulysses for fun :) It's not like I need to read it for a class or anything. Tama..pagsasabayin ko na lang :P
K.D. wrote: "Ulysses is fun! Andaming sex scenes! obscene nga ito kaya sya dati banned."Umaariba ka n naman! FHM yday, ngyn nmn Ulysses !
@Maria: Sige, you're in! Haha.@KD: Parang di naman halata. Joke lang! Haha. Hehe.
Kwesi, first Bob Ong mo ito?
K.D. wrote: "Maria: I was only trying to convince Angus that "Ulysses" is not a boring novel. :)"Pati ako yata na-convince mo. LOL!
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Hi, I'm looking for reading buddies for Sarah Dessen's The Truth About Forever."I'm in, toddler!
K.D. wrote: "Maria, book buddies tayo!"Go! Hanap muna ko ng copy.
Chami, i want to try books out of my normal reading genre :)
Kwesi: I'd like to join you but I have no copy of the book. Shamefully, I don't want to buy one.Is there somebody out there who can lend me a copy of this book?
