Whether you want a total makeover or just learn how to apply mascara, all great selfhelp books have one thing in common. They are packed with useful information.

1. Look for books with detailed chapters on subjects like:

*Skin Care - the basics, care, Q and A's, quick tips or cheat sheets

*Hair Care - the basics, styling, coloring processing, hair emergencies

*Makeup - formulas, colors, organizing, tools, brows, application, expiration dates

*Creating an At Home Spa - what you need, manicure, pedicure, rituals

2. When buying beauty books from online stores such as amazon.com, always read the reviews. Learning from other people's mistakes could really save some cash.
