Ken-ichi If anyone's ever read Up and Down California in 1860-1864: The Journal of William H. Brewer, you should check out

They're posting Brewer's journal in chronological order, and trying to photograph (and map) some of the locations in CA he visited. If you're interested in 19th century American history, particularly Californian history and natural history, you should check out the book and the sites.

That sounds like an awesome project. I love how modern technology can be used to preserve history!

Wow! What a cool project and a fun way to bring history back to life with current photos. Just trucking out to New Idria and places like that gives contemporary explorers and historians some respect for the terrain Brewer's group covered!
