J.E. (jeklimek) I decided to share this one since few have read it. It is one of my earliest, that was written my freshman year of college. I hope it's not too long:

Aside From the Overlook

There was once a girl, Sara was her name,
who lived inside of a giant mansion
(even though her family had no fame)
which has a hedge maze she found most fun.

But to some the house could seem greater still.
It seemed it might stretch for many a mile
and it would take almost all of her will,
as each day she would explore for a while.

Sara loved to search through the many rooms,
to see what mysteries were deep within.
What many a shadow is there that looms
inside of all of the house’s dark skin?

This mansion had such a great over-look
to a view that could take all of your breath.
Sara’s deep emotions, it often shook.
Its shining could have given life to death.

Still, the greatest part of the whole estate
can be found out inside of the backyard.
It has the maze that often, for so late,
Sara would search through its hedges so hard.

Each weekend she would persistently try
to find the exit from the great puzzle.
For many years it has caused her to sigh,
each time she cannot yell through its muzzle.

She then started through to try once again.
Sara took a path that she had not yet.
She took just a couple of planned turns when
she found a wall was all that she could get.

She then went over her many a step
to try and find where she had yet to search.
It would often take her a lot of prep
to plan it out so she would not re-search.

So she searched and again searched even more.
She then realized it was getting late,
and she went back to find the start once more,
without yet knowing she had such dark fate.

Sara was so surprised, she could not brace
for the shock when she was where she’s set free.
She found it to be a wall’s solid face.
She then made sure of just where she could be.

She was sure this must be the correct place.
It was the only spot of which she knew
where the maze’s path had many a space
where it cut off and would then go anew.

How she would try so hard to understand
what had caused her to be held in this spot.
Behind her back, felt tightly tied, her hand,
so that she felt it must be in a knot.

“Oh! Where could that one unknown exit be?
I’ve been searching for it all of my life.
I only wish that I would be set free
of this one puzzle’s awfully long strife!”

And so, Sara sat down waiting to see
if someone would hopefully come looking,
Could she find that, too long, her wait will be?
Is an end not in each and everything?

At first she waited there so patiently.
She then thought she could hear the faintest sound
coming from inside a much taller tree.
No! It is still much closer she has found.

“Hey! What is she doing just sitting there?”
“I do not know, should she not try to leave?”
“Just what benefit do we ever bare
if our path’s end she will never achieve?”

The three voices sounded most familiar,
she thinks she has heard them once before.
If only she had known just who they were…
She knows that she has met them once before.

She sensed her hopes rise at speed so sudden,
“Hey! Is there anybody still out there?!”
She waited, no answer is she given,
“Help! I am lost inside the plants somewhere!”

To her, not one reply would ever come.
No answers would ever come to her ear.
She just wondered how they could be so dumb
to not see that she is being sincere.

Again, she could hear them coming once more,
as they carry on their own discussion.
She then knew that all of her hopes they tore.
This maze could no longer seem to be fun.

“What is it that she is yelling about?”
The first voice seemed to be very concerned,
“She thinks we are able to help her out,”
The other one seemed that, more, he had learned.

The next time Sara was not quite as thrilled,
She felt that these men were now teasing her,
Sara wondered…if she were to be killed,
what would they then be saying about her?

She stood up and began to take a walk
to see if she would then be more lucky.
She began to hear a great deal more talk,
from more voices, not just the first three.

“…how this is sort of strange…don’t you think so?”
“…she keeps trying to figure this maze out…”
“I don’t think that she will go mad, although…”
“…frustration makes me feel a need to shout.”

She then broke down into so many tears
that she could not hold all her sobbing in.
It seemed she was feeling all her past fears.
Sara felt, the goal, she would never win.

Suddenly the voices’ many volumes
started to grow to almost endless heights.
It was then that she saw the tiny fumes
creating a swarm of such little lights.

She noticed these lights were growing unclear,
as they moved throughout the many a hedge.
The fire never spread as she would fear,
and so her mind came closer to the edge.

It appeared that they would flash on and off.
But it seemed they would never go away.
She then blew one of them out with a cough,
which reappeared some miraculous way.

Her thoughts’ intimidation was too much.
Sara thought, just as she was going to weep,
Why could I never feel for once the touch,
of a hug I would love to always keep?

So, Sara sat within that night’s darkness,
lost within a maze she had never known,
Now the entrance cannot relieve her stress,
and the exit she will never be shown.

To this day her remains could be found there,
in that puzzle, which so many have fought.
It may seem an end that is most unfair,
yet this gave her an exit she had sought…

Cissi "Invisible but Invincible" (cissiinvisiblebutinvincible) | 104 comments Not quite as long, but I think it's decent.

I can hear the bells…
I can hear them ringing…
I can’t let them stop…
I can’t let them stop singing…

Because when they do…
When that melody stops…
This harmony’s through…
This harmony drops…

And it keeps me alive…
This harmony’s voice…
The bells can’t stop…
Can’t give them a choice…’

But they’re halting…
Striking to eleven black…
Grip is melting…
Can’t hold them back….

The painful pause….
Not a noise in the depth…
I sit on the windowsill…
Falling to the crest…

The clock keeps me high…
Above sanity…
Changes my mind…
Makes it free…

Clouded over…
I just take a step…
I was just curious…
The window crept…

Fly into the night…
The black comes near…
I see a white light…
But nothing is clear…

Shady slap…
Right in my face…
But I can barely feel it…
Relentless and erased…

I’m still on that high….
The clock never stopped…
Kept going until after…
The ball had dropped….

Im sorry
Im sorry I wasn’t there to catch you when you fell
Im sorry I wasn’t there to cheer you up when you were down
Im sorry I wasn’t there to love you when you loved me
Im sorry I missed my chance when you gave me so many
Im sorry I took you for granted even when you weren’t mine
Im sorry I never trusted you like you trusted me
Im sorry I drove you to this when you brought me out
Im sorry I lived and you did not
Im sorry It wasn’t me but you
Im sorry that train was so much bigger than you
Im sorry you never listened
Im sorry I wasn’t there to push you out the way
And im sorry that im breathing and you are not

This one isn't the best but this is actually a strangely hard topic to write about for me

Midnight Sun

Let's have some fun.
In the midnight sun.
We can laugh,
And we can scream.

Let's mourn the one.
Who tried to run.
For she was young...

We had some fun.
With that gun.
Bus she died.
In the midnight sun...

She caught us by surprise,
As she looked in my eyes.
She started to cry.
That night she did die.

We were family.
Soul mates.
Trying to make sense of life.

Young and stupid.
Scared and reckless.
She did die.
After that last cry.

Now we are damned to hell.
I was wished well.
As we stare.
Without a care.

We had some fun...
In that midnight sun...
When the devil took her life...
With a bullet through my wife...

Rebecca (alwaysrebecca) | 312 comments The Grandfather Clock

A click
A clock
Sounds the grandfather
Just down the hall
Night after night

A ding
A dong
He is ringing his bells
And singing the hour
Night after night

A pause
A silence
Just after midnight
Starts the new morning
Day after day
