Monica (megonegicega) | 33 comments Hi! My mom is doing Read Across America for my school and would like some book suggestions. Any ideas?

Percy Jackson!

message 3: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Harmon (mandyharmon) | 10724 comments DUDE. I just met someone named Monica today...it was cool.

Anyway, YESH. What Jules said. Percy Jackson FTW.

Peter and the Star-catchers isn't bad either....

Juliet took the words right outta my mouth.

message 5: by RedPath (new)

RedPath | 853 comments It's universally acknowledged that Percy Jackson should be added to that list.

And I can't really help here. My reading choices in middleschool were...unconventional.

message 6: by Monica (new)

Monica (megonegicega) | 33 comments Thanks! Any idea what the other Monica's last name is?

Kriss (krisslee) | 5015 comments Mod
Oh, I totally read this title and got all offended. I was preparing to come in this topic to rant about how Middle Schoolers don't need to be read to like small children! But then I realized the starter of the topic was a middleschooler and actually read the content...

message 8: by Monica (new)

Monica (megonegicega) | 33 comments Um... Yea. We don't really get a choice. We have to be read to whether we like it or not. My mom has just been bugging me about what to read.

Umm....man. I kinda forgot. I'm so bad with the names and such!

Chaos Walking if it's a mature enough group. :D

I dunno about Chaos Walking ... They're pretty violent. Plus they have the occasional hinting about sex and stuff.

Although THEY'RE MY FAVORITE BOOKS EVER. GAAHH.

message 12: by Monica (new)

Monica (megonegicega) | 33 comments It's ok Mandy. Just curious.

I'll check out Chaos Walking. Thanks!

message 13: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Harmon (mandyharmon) | 10724 comments =) If you're in Oregon, and know a Maribel, then you're the Monica I know. xD

Ehhh. Chaos Walking is a bit intense for middle schooler.

Hmm. Well, Mandy was right about Peter and the Starcatchers, those are so cool books and totally approrpiate.

Umm. Wow. I suck. I'm looking at all the books on my shelf and they're mostly.. mature teen books. So, I suppose I'm not much help.

Maybe Inkheart? Ooh or Uglies! My sister read those when she was super young.

That's really cute, but those are more elementary, in my opinion.

Thank you Jules. I agree.

Hmm.....books, books....

Well, I dunno. My 12-year-old sister read Chaos Walking. But she's a pretty mature reader, I guess. It's just not the kind of thing I'd read to kids without their parents' consent and whatnot. :P

Ooh Uglies! Uglies is great.

You have a cool name. It's like a painting.

message 25: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) Acacia enjoys popping out at random times.

Acacia also was a middle schooler last year and would like to remind people that there is kind of a difference between 6th graders and 8th graders.

Nooo. There is no such difference. One grade is just drastically shorter than the other.

message 27: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) It's the difference between 10 and 14 in some cases, which is a pretty big difference.

I know, right?

For the past month I've been watching Buffy. Nonstop. I haven't had time for Goodreads. Plus, its irrationally annoying me lately. Sooo.

But, anyways, Buffy is done now. :( :( So, I suppose I'll be on more.
