Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Waffles. Especially if they are Belgian.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Pancakes. I don't think I have ever had waffles.

message 3: by janine (new)

janine | 7715 comments pancakes of the dutch variety.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm shocked Gail.

I like the thin waffles better. We specifically went on a search for a waffle maker that wasn't the Belgian kind.

message 5: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I had my first Belgian waffle at the World's Fair in New York in 19 mumble mumble. It was heavenly. I like pancakes, too, though.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Chocolate Chip Pancakes with lots of whipped cream are quite yummy though.

message 7: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I really want to try the Liège waffle. Haven't found them in LA yet though.

1939, evidently.

I like them both. With tons of butter and syrup. Or tons of butter, some syrup, and pecans. Powdered sugar is not enough of a topping. They have to be soaked.

message 10: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not.

I am shocked Larry. That would make you several years older than my mother.

I am shocked too, Larry. This means you could be the same age as Margaret Thatcher, or Estes Kefauver.

message 13: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Crepes! with cream cheese filling & a lemon syrup. And Dutch Babies (but we've had that discussion, haven't we?) with lots of butter & raspberries & maybe even choc chips. Belgian waffles are scrumptuous with a berry syrup & whipped cream. Pancakes are good when you've been out playing all night & get a giant stack with crispy bacon & sausage at the local Pancake House at 3 am.

Oh my. I think I'm going into a virtual diabetic coma. :)

I haven't had crepes in forever. We used to go to The Magic Pan - has anyone heard of it?

What is is t with you and Estes Kefauver?

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Strawberry crepes at Village Inn.

Lobstergirl | 24324 comments Mod
The lovely Estes Kefauver.

message 18: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Don't be equivocal about waffles.

I know these are Groucho Marx glasses but I think they must have used Estes Kefauver as the model.

message 20: by Jammies (new)

Jammies French toast, tyvm, with butter and brown sugar.

Raspberry crepes from Cora’s.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I like my crepes with freshly squeezed lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar.

message 23: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Panqueques!

message 24: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Oh, dang. I forgot about crepes. I think they trump waffles if they are stuffed with strawberries and whipped cream.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17345 comments Mod
Pancakes if I'm cooking, waffles if I'm at a restaurant and don't have to clean that grill.

message 26: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Yeah, I don't have a waffle iron so I can only have them in restaurants.

message 27: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17345 comments Mod
I have one but I have a tendency to add too much baking powder and they always bubble out and all over.

message 28: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments How long does it take to cook a waffle?

message 29: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17345 comments Mod
It takes four to seven minutes, depending on the weather.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Aynge wrote: "Oh, dang. I forgot about crepes. I think they trump waffles if they are stuffed with strawberries and whipped cream."

Nope. Bananas and caramel.

message 31: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6485 comments Waffles, then crepes. Not a big fan of pancakes or french toast.

Cora's has fantastic breakfasts! I'm so happy they're in Toronto now.

That said, beer pancakes for me.

Or crepes. Waffles are good too.
Yum. I'm hungry.

Zu puts thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese on her pancakes, along with the butter and syrup. I was skeptical, but it's actually delicious.

Lyzzibug ~Still Breathing~ (lyzzibug) | 708 comments Waffles!! Then pancakes if they have blueberries. MMMMMMMM

Never had a Crepe, but they do look good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) We have a restaurant in my town called La Creperie. They have amazing dessert crepes, but their dinner crepes are good as well. I get one stuffed with chicken in a wine and butter sauce that is so divine.

message 35: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments crepes. I can fill them with lots of different things. They can be breakfast, lunch, dinner. My crepes filled with ham and pineapple for summer supper is delicious. Unfortunately, my brother in law can't eat ham on his restricted diet.

message 36: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1107 comments I like saying "waffles" like "WAH-fels", but I'd pick pancakes over waffles.

Michele, how do you post pictures? I want to show you my food-lidays with crepes!

Oh no.

At a Denny's in Chicopee, Massachusetts last weekend, a couple asked a woman in the next booth for her maple syrup. "Bitch, your pancakes look fine to me!" was the woman's response. And then they started hitting each other.

Hooley Dooley. That is bizarre.

::crosses, Denny's off the list of places to eat in the US::

I would have talked you out of eating at Denny's anyways Gail. So many good places to eat no need to waste it at a Denny's.

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Denny's used to be called Sambo's. I just thought I'd throw that in there.

message 48: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6485 comments Thanks for throwing that in Larry.

message 49: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Don't mention it.
