Steph (angel4492) | 28251 comments There's a new series premiering on BBC called Outcasts.
BBC Link

Description: With Earth no longer habitable, a group of courageous pioneers have traveled to another planet to begin again. Settled in the town of Forthaven on Carpathia, the Outcasts are passionate about their jobs, confident of their ideals and optimistic about the future. They work hard to preserve what they've built on this planet they now call home.

Led by President Tate and his core team of Stella, Cass and Fleur—and settling alongside Expeditionaries Mitchell and Jack—this diverse group of individuals left their old lives behind in extraordinary circumstances. Promised a second chance at life, they created a society, far away from their home, friends, family ... and their pasts.

Carpathia offers the possibility for both corruption and redemption. Though they try to avoid the mistakes made on Earth, our heroes cannot escape the human pitfalls of love, greed, lust, loss, and a longing for those they've left behind.

As they continue to work and live together they come to realize this is no ordinary planet. Mystery lurks around them and threatens to risk the fragile peace of Forthaven.

From the makers of award-winning and international hit series Life on Mars, MI-5, Hustle and Occupation, comes the new high concept drama Outcasts. Created by Ben Richards (MI-5), the series stars Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty, The L Word), Liam Cunningham (Clash Of The Titans) and Hermione Norris (MI-5, Wire In The Blood).

Reminds me of the mid-1990s show, "Earth 2" , which was canceled after only 1 season. Hopefully this one will be better and have a longer life. :)

new_user Oh, sounds interesting! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments It's not a big budget show but I'm really enjoying it and I've only seen two episodes. Daniel from Ugly Betty is evil. Very, very evil. Stab him in the nuts evil. I never knew he was such a good actor. I hope this show airs in the States soon.

Steph (angel4492) | 28251 comments I see that the dude from Battlestar Galactica (the newer, not older version) is on there too.

"I hope this show airs in the States soon." Me too! We have friends with BBC and I'm pleading with them to send it to me. LOL!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Verdict: Great idea. Solid actors. Amazing direction/photography. Crappy dialogue ("You know nothing of my morality, you insect."). Slightly dodgy plots. But each episode got steadily better, I was on the edge of seat for that last episode.

Despite the major cliffhanger there won't be a second season -the bastards! I need to know what happens next! I think the excuse they're giving is ratings which I think is unfair. They scheduled this show awkwardly: Monday & Tuesday at 9pm.

Apparently by the 4th episode the ratings had dropped, not surprising as most people probably would've missed the second episode like I did. I caught up online when by chance I noticed I'd missed one. Then they moved it to Sundays @ 10:30pm.

I'll admit Outcasts has received some really bad reviews but even some of those people have admitted to wanting to know what happened next in a second season and give them a chance to up their game.

IMDB stated that one episode only gained 1.5 million viewers -a heck of a lot more than Bedlam's 190,000 but not enough for a second season. This show had so much potential, it's a shame they're not going to make something of it.

Steph (angel4492) | 28251 comments WTH? Now, that really doesn't make any sense. Keep the dud and cancel the one with potential? Okaaaay ...

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I don't get it either. It's really maddening. Sometimes I really wonder why I bother to watch TV any more when they keep making stupid decisions like this.

Steph (angel4492) | 28251 comments LOL! I hear ya. Although I could never give up TV 100%, at least I don't think so ... too much of a couch potato (in that I love watching shows, not that I'm a lump of lard with a butt indention on the sofa ...LOL!)

I've never understood the network's decisions with some shows. Ones that I could of sworn would be canceled are still showing and ones that rocked were gone before they were given a fair chance. :p on networks!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Has this aired in the States yet? And if so, did anyone watch it?

Josie | 1967 comments I was planning on checking this out but ended up missing it. Is it worth catching up? I'm really into Misfits at the moment so that's my "supernatural" show covered but I suppose no one watches that lol

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Aaah, Misfits. I heart Misfits. Everyone knows when I watch it from my non-stop laughter. I'm gonna miss Nathan. I'm mad at him for leaving the show. I've heard he dies but he was immortal so I'm not sure how that's gonna work. I'm not looking forward to meeting his replacement.

Regarding Outcasts, I would avoid it just because if you end up loving it you'll be bummed by the cliffhanger ending with no second season. See msg #5 of this thread.

Josie | 1967 comments Oh then I probably won't bother. I think I'd rather make the effort with The Walking Dead instead.
I love Nathan! Everything that he says is hilarious, it won't be the same without him but I'll probably watch the third series anyway since I find Kelly funny as well :)

This is where Nathan's at apparently:
This exclusive 12 min online film gives fans a chance to say goodbye to motormouth Nathan, who armed with a new superpower, has got a plan to go out in style. His target - Las Vegas. With Marnie and little Nathan Jnr in tow, Nathan plots to use his new superpower to scam the casinos. As ever with Nathan, it's a sure-fire plan that can't fail. Except it does...and he finds himself on the run. Short on options, Nathan tries to call an old friend...

Misfits: VEGAS BABY!
