Young Adult Fiction for Adults discussion
What are you reading now?
So I was reading
but we had a personal tragedy--our dog suddenly died after a seemingly successful spaying-- and I did not think plane crashes & surviving was for me at the moment despite Libba Bray's always witty writing so I put it aside & started
because I thought it would in no way remind me of my dog & I don't know that I care enough yet to be heartbroken by deaths in this series. (My other option was Feed which apparently has caused many tears among my friends so I said alas no)The last CD of
skips much to my chagrin since I bought them myself so clearly nobody has scratched it. It skips BAD. Can't even listen to skipping. Me and amazon are about to talk about this.So now I'm listening to
because it seems fluffy and I've seen the Disney movie (I know it made major changes from the book) and kind of know what I'm getting into. For an unrecommended audiobook that I just grabbed in desperation, the narrator is good and I'm very happy so far. I thought Meg Cabot seemed media savvy she'd have a good narrator. And I cannot get Brit Robertson out of my head despite the descriptions, she's just so cute and likable!

When they left the office at 10pm she was fine, ate food, drank water, but in the morning she was gone. Might have had a stroke during night.

What a great idea! It would make cleaning so much better!

I'm so sorry Cassi. I completely understand how you feel right now. A year ago we lost our dog tragically. It's such a hard thing to go through.

Sorry to hear about your pet. :(
Yes, it's good to read some light-hearted stuff right now.Cambria wrote: "Is Feed supposed to be very sad? "
The author doesn't write in an emotional or weepy way, but what happens is...incredible. Book Two
is even better than the first--more action-packed, more emotional. Which I didn't think was possible.
Wow. I have been looking at Feed lately, hearing some buzz but this was the first time i heard it was sad. I think i will give it a try.
Try not to read too many reviews of either book--there are huge spoilers in some of them. I wrote a review of DEADLINE which doesn't have any spoilers in it, for anyone who hasn't read either book yet:http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
And here's FEED, also spoiler-free:

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing! I didn't know you wrote reviews. You should hop on over to the Creative Reviews group....I am a moderator there. You can post your reviews. Do you have a blog too?

I'm so into the audiobook that I'm listening to now, I was looking for things to do!
You can always tell if the audiobook I have is good by seeing how clean my house is! Clean house = great audiobook!
I depend on them now!

So how do you listen to your audiobooks? can you listen on an Ipod or an Iphone? I hear you can get them off overdrive which is cool

It'll be great to chat with other bloggers in your other group. :)
Awesome!!! Definitely check it out. You can probably pick up quite a few followers and it will give your blog more exposure! Its a great group! :)
I LOVE LOVE your blog! I just checked it out! It is so pretty. I have a huge respect for you bloggers....I do not have a blog yet...I am fighting with my computer to get one going...you all make it look so easy! Great job, it looks fabulous! I'm now following! :)

Haha! I know!!!! It's the same for me, too!
Cambria wrote: "I'm goign to have to try that. So how do you listen to your audiobooks? can you listen on an Ipod or an Iphone? I hear you can get them off overdrive which is cool"I think some formats work on the ipod. Mp3, but not WMA (which most books are in - well, depending on your library). I have a Sansa and get a majority of my audiobooks from Overdrive but have gotten some from my library. I don't know anything about the iPhone, sorry! I heard there was a recent update to the Overdrive app. That's as hip as I get!
Okay! Cool thanks. I will see what i can find. My house needs a good scrub down and I need some motivation! :) Plus, it is awesome multitaksing.

Did you join the group yet? If not I can send you an invite...I already sent you a friend request. lol.
For anyone else that has a blog or writes reviews....check out the Creative Reviews group. It is an awesome place full of good people!! :)
Wendy-i saw you joined!! Thank you. Stop by the introductions folder and say hi. then add your blog to the Bloggers folder! there are a lot of people on there who want reviews so have fun!
It seems like a great group. :) If you google "free blogger backgrounds" (or wordpress or whatever), there are a zillion great options that come up.I think I am going to read
next. Or
, I'm not sure which yet. We'll see how I feel before bedtime!

those two books look great! have seen Blood magic around...let me know how you like it.
I have looked at the free templates...i couldn't get any to load onto my blog. :( Have i mentioned that i am extremely bad with computers? lol
Enjoy your reading tonight! I am reading Dirty Blood
Aww, Cassi...I'm so sorry about your dog. I know how you feel, losing pets is really hard whether it's unexpected or not. I just finished
and while I enjoyed it I didn't love it like I was hoping. I should've known from the reviews that it wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be but I guess I had my fingers crossed anyway. It was a good read and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves The Little House on the Praire books. It did make me want to take my own trip to see all the places the author went...maybe one of these days.
Hi all,Just FYI - I've just posted an interview I did with young adult writer John Marsden at my site. The Url is:

John wrote the bestselling Tomorrow series. I read it and enjoyed it a lot.
Best to all!

Thanks Carmel. I have joined the group and look forward to chatting!
@Cassi...I have three pookers at home. I love animals more than people most days so I so sad to hear about your baby.
Cassi, I am so sorry for your loss, I experienced about the same thing with my female dog a year ago...I did get another dog within a couple of months of loosing her, it did help with the pain, but I still think of her daily...Our animals are like one of my kids! I am sending a HUGE hug!
Cassi I'm so sorry :( That's always an awful thing *big hugs*I'm reading
and it's pretty good so far! I need to learn to stop judging these books by their cover art! I don't go for the cutesy covers like this normally but I usually end up liking the book (talking to you Anna and the French Kiss and Hex Hall)

I'm right there with you Cassi!

Back when it was in hardback (and had a different cover, I think) I did the same thing. In fact I thought it was about something completely different. I'm glad someone I trusted recommended it to me (and told me what it was actually about).
I agree about
. I actually didn't read until this cover
was released, but once I read it I was so glad I did!
Thanks for all the understanding. We have 5 other dogs but sometimes that makes it harder. Snowball was a surrogate mother to one of our dogs (who lost her best friend 2 years ago to Parvo) so I worry about her since dogs can not voice grief in the way humans can. Brandi: I'm glad I'm not the only girl who lives like a bachelor.
Peep (Pop! Pop!) wrote: "Speaking of movies, I just saw About a Boy for the first time the other day. I was >thisclose< to proposing to Hugh Grant."I LOVE that movie!

I know it works with the iphone (or is supposed to) because I was going to get one awhile back and checked. Make sure it says it is compatible with wma audiobooks because a ton of them are in that format on overdrive.

Dreamy, is it? I definitely approve of that description! Especially since my own accent is, I'm told, pretty typical Oxbridge/Southern (except a lot less charming than Hugh Grant's...alas) :)
