How was he being tempted? Like holding hands or something more? I can handle it if he's tempted by stuff that is not sexual, like holding hands or a kiss but is this like an r-rated movie?

How would rate it on a scale of 10, 10 being the highest you could go for explicit material and 1 being the cleanest
Daughter of Smoke and Bone definitely has sexual content, mostly right up near the beginning. No graphic sex scenes that I recall, but some frank discussion of genitals and of previous sexual experiences. There's also a sexual encounter later in the book, but if I remember right, that one was handled more delicately. It was enough "content" that I decided not to read the second book, even though overall I really liked Laini Taylor's writing.
Pamela wrote: "I LOVE Alexander Mccall Smith books, they are clean and written with a lot of warmth. I love his sense of humor. I'm very picky about novels, I mostly read nonfiction, but I love AMS, all of it. ..."I love The Ladies' No. 1 Detective Agency. (Also a great miniseries.) Very fun and clean.
Has anyone read any books by Kristin Hannah? Just wondering if she writes clean, I found some at the library I would like to try
I've read two of hers, and my sister loves them. "Comfort and Joy", the Christmas story, is quite clean; "True Colors", the other I've read, is mostly clean. There is some language and a sexual scene or two, but nothing graphic, as I recall. Probably could be rated PG13. It has been a couple years since I read it, though.
Thanks for the info. I was really enjoying the one I had, then I hit a sexual scene and I just put it down. I don't know how far it went.
I just posted a review of The Corporeal Pull by Sara Gauldin and added the review to my blog. I recommend this book as an interesting clean read. https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
If you're looking for a Clean romantic comedy series, I recently reviewed The Best Dating Rules by Tamie Dearen. Here is a link to the review on my blog: https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
If you enjoy mysteries and police procedural novels, the Sgt. Major Crane novels by Wendy Cartmell is really good and clean reads. Very few curse words. Here is my latest review of Honour Bound: https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
Just You Know,Splintered and Unhinged Are Clean, NO F Bombs. No Smut.
I hope anyone who has recommended a clean book has added it to the group bookshelf. It makes it easier for others to find the rec in the future, rather than trying to figure out which thread it was mentioned in.
Lora wrote: "He can be crude and use a fair amount of swearing. Sometimes he feels earthy, like a ranch hand earthy, but other times he's just swearing and crude. I never finished whichever of his books I tried..."I also found a book by him[Bill Bryson] full of crude profanity, and did not finish. I believe it was "A Walk In The Woods".
Does anyone know if the horror books by Scott Nicholson are clean?
Does anyone know if Martha grimes is a clean authour? She writes crime novels and they look interesting, have any of you ever tried her before?
The book I would like to read by him is The Blessing Way. Has anyone else ever read it before? If you have, can you tell me what you think.
I read the one and two star reviews, and some of the three, for The Blessing Way and didn't see any red flags.
Although I have not read The Blessing Way, I have read several other books by Tony Hillerman and aside from some limited cussing (no f-bombs that I can recall) his books are clean.
I had never read Nora Roberts, but decided to try her Dark Witch: Book One of The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy because it is set in Ireland.I had to stop reading because it has cursing/including [F] Bombs and then came upon an explicit sex scene,so that did it for me. :[
Does anyone know,if that is common for her writing?
I haven't read any of hers because I found that sort of content simply by flipping through in the bookstore. She's supposed to boast a fairly "hot" heat rating, which means explicit scenes, usually.
Hannah wrote: "I haven't read any of hers because I found that sort of content simply by flipping through in the bookstore. I had heard her name for years and knew she wrote Romances, but never heard if they were clean or not.I reserved her book from my library via online,so I didn't get to skim through it,and didn't see any mention of that type of content in the reviews, either.
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1237...Anyone familiar with this series linked above? The Peacemaker series by Zoe Saadia. Clean?
Reviews mention that it contains detailed love/rape scenes and a friendly exploration of voodoo. Probably not very clean...and plenty of liaisons, too, apparently.
Has anyone read the historical western romances of Jo Goodman and know if they are clean? Love me some cowboys and will not read 'books' of less than 200[prefer closer to 300]pages.I do not consider those less than 200 pages,a book!
I found her books on Amazon and like the length, and I have not noticed in any reviews objectionable material being mentioned.
ETA: Ok, explicit sex scene in ....
What about books by Linda Lael Miller? Can anyone recommend good cowboy romances that are clean and NOT Christian, and at least-250 pgs.?

"Thank you,I have been intending to check out the westerns by Elmer Kelton, after I read a post somewhere that he is a much better writer than Louis L'Amour.

I haven't read it, but I do like to check this website for ratings. You could read what they have to say about it here:http://www.compassbookratings.com/rev...
I've read it and it is a very good story, it is clean but it is filled with lots of swearing. I would recommend it except for the language.
Thx Rosemary!! Always can use a good review site. The book was being considered for a ladies church book club... and lots of swearing etc was not going to go over well.
Anyone read The Martian? It won a Goodreads award, is already being turned into a Ridley Scott movie next year, and (my favorite part) is another self-publication success story (now if we could only get Hugh Howey's Wool Omnibus and its sequels made!). Would like to know if it's clean - heard there is quite a bit of swearing (which I'm not thrilled about) but mostly concerned about sexual content - my teenager is wanting to read it as well.
How would you rate Anne Tyler's books for "clean-ness" e.g. A Spool of Blue Thread, Back When We Were Grownups, The Accidental Tourist? Thanks in advance for your reply!
I have a list called Clean Romantic Adventure. Please take a look everyone and add anything if you can? Here is the link:https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...
