Gus Sanchez (gussanchez) Thought I'd share this quote from Keith Richards, taken from his stirring, frank, and often hilarious memoir Life, regarding religion:

I've never found heaven, for example, a particularly interesting place to go. In fact, I take the view that God, in his infinite wisdom, didn't bother to spring for two joints - heaven and hell. They're the same place, but heaven is when you get everything you want and you meet Mummy and Daddy and your best friends and you all have a hug and a kiss and play your harps. Hell is the same place - no fire and brimstone - but they just all pass by and don't see you. There's nothing, no recognition. You're waving, "It's me, your father," but you're invisible. You're on a cloud, you've got your harp, but can't play with nobody because they don't see you.

That's hell.

Keith Richards is my fucking Buddha.

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1028 comments Not so different from C.S. Lewis, who also suggested they were the same place, but those who love being in God's presence would experience it as Heaven while those who don't experience it as hell.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I think most people's concept of hell is based on Dante's "Inferno". Personally, I think hell is a frozen, dark wateland where you are all alone forever.

Gus Sanchez (gussanchez) I think Hell is where you live in eternity surrounded by all the shit that gave you grief and anger and frustration. Like psycho ex-girlfriends or shitty films you wish you'd never have to see again.

As a philosopher, he makes a great rhythm guitarist.
