If you have something you hate to see in marketing or promotion, please post about it.

One of my pet peeves is failure to provide a link. Please, if you are promoting a book, or a contest, a poll, a blog or anything, provide a direct link so anyone interested can find it.

Brenda Youngerman (byoungerman) | 13 comments I have to say my biggest pet peeve is that people who are familiar with marketing and promotion and all that is available in the world of the web and the new technologies - that are changing every day - put things out there and expect everyone to know exactly what they are talking about. Acronyms are used and phrases are used and it is human nature to just follow along without asking so as to look foolish - a great example is - a blog tour. Does anyone really know what a blog tour is or what it accomplishes? But they are offered and marketing people talk them up like they are the best thing since sliced bread. Do they really add value for an author?

A blog tour is when an author does a series of guest spots on different blogs, usually to promote a new book. It is also called a virtual book tour. I posted some tips on blog tours here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/400735-blog-tours

That does sound annoying.

Yes, I find that a bit tedious myself.

AnnabelleRC | 15 comments That is when you learn who are your true friends. Then you delete them from your address book and never speak to them again!
Sound a bit harsh? Yes I know. But nothing hurts more than a friend who does not support another friend.
